About this role

Qualifications: High School diploma. Experience working with students in a school setting with academic, behavioral and/or emotional challenges, learning or developmental disabilities or autism preferred. Must be able and willing to physically restrain and/or lift students. Reports to: Program director/coordinator or designee Work Year School Year: (183 days includes 3 professional days) Responsibilities:

• Provide one-to-one support throughout the school day

• Help facilitate the student's daily schedule and transition

• Support the student in general education classrooms and enrichment activities

• Encourage independence, social engagement, and academic success

• Consistently & accurately implement individual student programs base on the IEP, behavioral support plan and healthcare plan under the direction of the classroom teach or other professional staff

• Collect data as indicated related to student IEP, behavior etc.

• Collaborate with teachers and related service providers to ensure a positive and supportive learning experience

• Work with other students in the program as appropriate when one-to-one support is not needed

• Use de-escalation, protective measures, and physical management techniques (including lifting and moving) as prescribed in SSEC approved physical management training programs when appropriate with students.

• Report any student or staff related concerns or critical information immediately to the classroom teacher and when appropriate directly to the Program Director/Coordinator.

• Consistent work attendance which includes; arriving to work on time each day, working the entire day and notifying the program director/coordinator a minimum of 24 hours in advance for a personal day whenever possible.

• Follow all policies and procedures as established by the South Shore Educational Collaborative.

• Participate in all required in-service training

• Maintain confidentiality regarding information for all SSEC staff, students and their families.

• Perform other duties as may from time to time be assigned by the program director/coordinator.

Mandatory participation in all of the following SSEC sponsored trainings to include but not limited to:

• Successful completion of SSEC approved restraint trainings. Full and/or recertification annually as appropriate.

• Maintain active CPR/First Aid certification.

• Successful completion of all SSEC approved threat assessment training.

• Successful completion of required training hours for 7D licensure if requested by the program director/coordinator.
