GARRETT-KEYSER-BUTLER COMMUNITY SCHOOL DISTRICT School District Position Description EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Part-time; Approximately 28.75 hours per week during the school year SUMMARY: The Instructional Assistant's principle role is to assist the teacher with the preparation and delivery of instruction primarily to individuals and small groups of students. IA's assist with school-wide procedures including supervision of school activities and other duties as assigned by the principal. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND REPONSIBILITIES:
• Maintain student and staff confidentiality
• Comply with standard rules, regulations, and procedures assigned by building Principal
• Be part of the total support team for students and staff
• Be professional when dealing with students, staff, and parents
• Support the teacher and related staff, who provide service for the student
• Support the educator/teacher's overall goals and objectives for each individual student
• Aid in the development and maintenance of a positive work environment
• Communicate concerns to the teacher in a timely and professional manner
• Be on time and maintain good attendance
• Attend in-services and training, as required
• Request teacher support when necessary or when more explanation is needed
• Communicate important information to the teacher concerning students
• Ability to learn and use technology on a timely basis
• Other duties may be required or assigned

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High School Diploma or GED required. May be required to meet current state and/or school requirements (ParaPro Exam or a minimum of 60 college credit hours).Previous experience working with students. Understanding and experience in an educational setting. Positive employment history.
