For questions about the position or substitute certification requirements, please contact: Madison Scheidegger ?? 573-486-2116 ext. 1302 Position Summary Substitute Teachers provide direct instruction to students and maintain a positive learning environment during a teacher's absence. Responsibilities include following lesson plans provided by the classroom teacher, supervising students, and ensuring instructional continuity throughout the school day. Essential Responsibilities
• Deliver instruction in accordance with the teacher's lesson plans.
• Create a safe, positive, and engaging learning environment for all students.
• Encourage critical thinking, problem-solving, and student engagement.
• Supervise students at all times while maintaining appropriate classroom management.
• Build and maintain professional relationships with students, staff, parents, and community members.
• Maintain accurate classroom records and documentation as required by the building.
• Follow district policies, procedures, and building expectations.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervising administrator.
• Assist with student supervision during school activities and emergency situations as needed.
Qualifications Applicants must meet the following requirements:
• Minimum of 60 college credit hours preferred.
• Per Missouri DESE requirements, individuals with at least 20 college credit hours may qualify by completing additional required training. If you have fewer than 60 college hours, please contact our Central Office at 573-486-2116 ext. 1302 for more information.
• Valid Missouri DESE Substitute Teaching Certificate required (Missouri teaching certificate preferred).
• Successful completion of a Missouri State Highway Patrol/FBI fingerprint background check.
