EDUCATION: Two years of study at an institution of higher education with the ability to provide transcripts showing 48 completed semester credits or 72 completed quarter credits, an Associate's (or higher) degree, OR a passing score on the Praxis exam. GENERAL JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Under the direct supervision of a licensed district nurse, performs a variety of clinical and administrative duties to support the delivery of quality student care. Assists with student intake, obtains and documents vital signs and medical histories, administers medication, provides first aid, maintains and provides patient education within the scope of duties. Ensures medical rooms, equipment, and supplies are properly prepared, sanitized, and stocked while adhering to established protocols and infection control standards. Must possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the essential functions of the position. Must be highly qualified. Must demonstrate the physical ability to perform job-related tasks and comply with OSHA regulations, infection prevention and control standards, bloodborne pathogen protocols, and all applicable workplace safety requirements. Must be knowledgeable of hazardous materials and Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and follow established procedures for handling and disposal. Responsibilities include maintaining student safety, protecting confidential health information, and supporting a safe clinical environment. This position is considered safety-sensitive. ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES (Not Necessarily Limited To) 1. Provide basic first aid and routine health support to students under the direction of the school nurse. 2. Assist students with daily medical needs, including prescribed medications and health procedures, according to school policies. 3. Monitor students with chronic health conditions such as asthma, diabetes, epilepsy, or severe allergies. 4. Observe students for signs of illness or injury and report concerns promptly to the school nurse, teachers, and parents as appropriate. 5. Maintain accurate health records, medication logs, and incident documentation. 6. Support students with personal care needs, including toileting, feeding, and hygiene, while preserving dignity and privacy. 7. Respond appropriately to medical emergencies by following established emergency procedures. 8. Ensure medical equipment and supplies are clean, organized, and adequately stocked. 9. Collaborate with teachers, administrators, therapists, and families to support students' health and educational needs. 10. Follow infection prevention and control procedures, including universal precautions. 11. Assist with student mobility and safe transfers when needed. 12. Maintain confidentiality of student health information in accordance with applicable privacy regulations and school policies. 13. Other Duties as assigned. 178 Days/Year 7.5 Hours/Day $19.36-21.79/Hour
