CARLISLE COMMUNITY SCHOOL DISTRICT JOB DESCRIPTION JOB TITLE District Payroll Specialist REPORTS TO School Business Official REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Two years of post-secondary education with coursework in business, math, accounting, bookkeeping or other related area preferred • Knowledge of the school system structure, policies and procedures • Proficient computer skills to include, but not limited to, Microsoft Office & Google Drive • Effective communication skills • Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality • Ability to work within a team setting with multiple contributors on projects • Strong organizational skills, detail oriented, and the ability to multitask • Willingness to learn and acquire new skills • Cleared criminal, child and adult abuse background checks PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor's Degree preferred • Payroll and/or Accounts Payable experience • Experience in with Software Unlimited ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Processes payroll information in accordance with established employment agreements, assuring accurate coding and funds distribution for timely and accurate payment of district employees • Balance the monthly payroll • Assumes responsibility for knowledge of federal and state wages and hour law, and related regulations • Coordinates with other district personnel to establish and maintain employee contracts, federal and state tax forms, and direct deposit information • Prepares and distributes annual tax information (i.e. W-2 statements) • Responds to requests for verification of employment • Recommends policies, procedures and/or actions for the purpose of providing direction for meeting the district's payroll objectives. • Assists the business manager with fiscal year end and end of calendar year reports • Manages employee files, transcripts, and lane changes • Cooperates with the auditors retained by the district • Attends required training programs • Performs other duties as delegated by the Business Manager KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide, perform complex arithmetic operations and use calculators • Organizational and time management skills • Confidentiality • Regular and reliable attendance • Communicates effectively with others while maintaining a positive attitude • Ability to report work verbally and in writing to Business Manager /Human Resource Director as required • Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding school district financial and other information • Proficient in the operation of general office equipment including, but not limited to, copy machines, printers, and telephones, • Computers applications including word processing, database, and spreadsheet software • Aptitude to learn and utilize advanced technology (TimeClock Plus, Aesop, Software Unlimited, etc. PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ MENTAL DEMANDS/ ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS
• Able to work with interruptions • Able to stand/walk throughout the day • Able to sit for periods of time • Noise level may be quiet to loud • Work may be indoors or out TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
