About this role
The Technology Assistant provides technical support to students, teachers, administrators, and staff throughout the school district. This position assists with the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and management of computers, mobile devices, classroom technology, software, and other district technology resources. The Technology Assistant works to ensure that technology used for instruction and district operations is reliable, accessible, secure, and ready for use.
• Essential Duties and Responsibilities Provide technical support to teachers, students, administrators, and other district staff.
• Troubleshoot computers, Chromebooks, tablets, printers, projectors, interactive displays, and other classroom technology.
• Install, configure, maintain, and update computers, software, applications, and peripheral devices.
• Assist with student and staff account access, passwords, email, and district applications.
• Prepare, configure, distribute, collect, and maintain student and staff devices.
• Assist with Chromebook repair and replacement.
• Support classroom audiovisual and instructional technology.
• Assist with technology setup for classrooms, offices, meetings, testing, presentations, and special events.
• Maintain accurate records of district computers, devices, accessories, software, and other technology assets.
• Assist with inventory, device labeling, equipment storage, and technology lifecycle replacement.
• Assist with maintaining district printers, copiers, phones, and other technology systems as assigned.
• Follow district cybersecurity, student privacy, acceptable-use, and data-protection policies.
• Help educate students and staff on appropriate technology use and basic cybersecurity practices.
• Communicate technical information clearly and respectfully to users with varying levels of technology experience.
• Coordinate with other technology staff and outside vendors when additional support is required.
• Perform other technology-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriately handle student, staff, and district information.
• Ability to learn new technologies and procedures as district technology needs evolve.
• Strong communication, organization, and customer service skills.
• Ability to work effectively with students, teachers, administrators, and staff.
• Ability to prioritize multiple support requests and responsibilities.
• Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of the district technology team.
Preferred Knowledge and Skills Experience or familiarity with one or more of the following is preferred but not required:
• Google Workspace for Education
• Chromebooks and ChromeOS
• Windows and/or MacOS computers
• Interactive classroom displays and audiovisual equipment
• Printers, copiers, and scanners
• Technology inventory and asset-management systems
