Position Title: Custodian, 2nd Shift Department: Custodial FLSA Status: Hourly / Non-Exempt Employment Status: Full-Time, Year-Round Reports To: Head Custodian Mt. Vernon Junior High School MSD of Mt. Vernon is seeking a dependable, hardworking, and team-oriented Second Shift Custodian to join the staff at Mt. Vernon Junior High School. This position plays an important role in maintaining a clean, safe, welcoming, and well-maintained environment for students, staff, and visitors. The ideal candidate takes pride in their work, is dependable, works well independently and as part of a team, and understands that the condition of our schools has a direct impact on the experience of our students and staff. Position Responsibilities The Second Shift Custodian will be responsible for maintaining assigned areas of the school and supporting the daily operations of the building. Responsibilities may include:
• Cleaning and sanitizing classrooms, offices, restrooms, hallways, common areas, and other assigned spaces.
• Sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and other routine cleaning duties.
• Emptying trash and recycling and maintaining appropriate sanitation standards.
• Cleaning and maintaining floors and other building surfaces.
• Assisting with the setup and cleanup of school activities and events.
• Monitoring and reporting building maintenance, safety, or security concerns.
• Maintaining adequate supplies and properly caring for cleaning equipment.
• Following established procedures for the safe use, storage, and handling of cleaning products and equipment.
• Working cooperatively with other custodial staff, administrators, teachers, students, and visitors.
• Supporting a safe and secure school environment by following building procedures and promptly addressing concerns.
• Performing other duties as assigned by the building administrator or Director of Operations.

Work Environment This is a second-shift position located at Mt. Vernon Junior High School. The position requires regular physical activity, including standing, walking, bending, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, and the use of custodial equipment. Previous custodial experience is helpful but not required. Training will be provided to candidates who demonstrate the work ethic, dependability, and attitude necessary to be successful.
