About this role
MOTAT is an interactive museum where people of all ages can explore, learn and play. Through our unique collections, hands-on activities and engaging experiences, we share the fascinating stories of Aotearoa’s history of technology, innovation and ingenuity.
As our museum experiences continue to grow, we are looking for enthusiastic, friendly and people-focused individuals to join our Visitor Services Host team.
What does a Visitor Services Host do?
As a Visitor Services Host, you will be one of the first friendly faces our visitors meet and play an important role in creating welcoming, engaging and memorable experiences.
You will have the opportunity to immerse yourself and our visitors in fun, interactive activities while sharing the stories behind our collections and helping people discover more about MOTAT, Aotearoa’s technological heritage and the exciting world of innovation.
Your role will include actively engaging with visitors, supporting the delivery of our public programmes and responding to visitor needs with kindness, knowledge and enthusiasm. Whether you are welcoming visitors, facilitating an activity, sharing a fascinating story or helping someone make the most of their visit, you will help create an environment where everyone feels welcome, included and inspired.
Who are we looking for?
We would love to hear from you if you:
• Have excellent customer service and communication skills
• Enjoy engaging with people from a wide range of backgrounds
• Are friendly, approachable, enthusiastic and confident
• Have an interest in history, science, technology, innovation or storytelling
• Enjoy creating fun, informative and engaging experiences
• Can work well as part of a collaborative and supportive team
Experience in a museum, visitor attraction, tourism, hospitality, education or another customer-facing environment would be an advantage, but a genuine passion for people and creating great visitor experiences is just as important.
If you speak another language, that would be a bonus!
Why work with us?
At MOTAT, you will be part of a fun, passionate and diverse team that is committed to creating meaningful and memorable experiences for our visitors.
We offer a supportive workplace, a bicultural approach to our mahi and a range of great team member benefits.
