Job Summary: Delivers accurate financial reporting and operational accounting support by leading close activities, maintaining general ledger integrity, managing inventory and plant accounting, resolving issues, and preparing audit documentation. Drives continuous improvement by evaluating processes, strengthening controls, advancing automation, and contributing to ERP/system initiatives that enhance efficiency and accounting effectiveness.
Job Description:
• Supports monthly, quarterly, and year‑end close by preparing and reviewing journal entries, reconciliations, analyses, and reports; ensures accurate U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)‑compliant general ledger activity; manages inventory accounting through reconciliations, transaction reviews, cycle count adjustments, and coordination with operations; and evaluates processes to strengthen controls, improve efficiency, and advance automation.
• Facilitates internal and external audits by preparing schedules, documentation, and responses to inquiries, and identifying and recommending solutions to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and overall accounting effectiveness.
• Contributes to ERP/system initiatives, including testing, documentation, issue resolution, and process implementation.
• Collaborates with cross-functional teams to resolve accounting matters and deliver decision ready financial information, while researching complex accounting issues, supporting new accounting guidance implementation, participating in special projects, and preparing audit support with timely resolution of reconciling items.
• Follows established company policies, procedures, and standards to ensure full compliance with applicable laws and industry regulations.
• Participates in storm restoration tasks and assigned drills to contribute to the safe and reliable recovery of services.
• Performs additional tasks aligned with role expectations and qualifications to support team goals and operational flexibility.
Additional Job Description: Education
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting (preferred), Finance or Business Administration
Experience
• 5 years of progressive accounting experience with functional role responsibilities, and working with data collection, analysis and interpretation.
Additional experience may substitute for required education when it aligns with the competencies and knowledge necessary for the role:
• Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration may substitute when accompanied by a minimum of 8 years of experience performing similar functions and at least 5 years of experience performing a previous Accountant role.
• Experience with general ledger accounting, month-end close, journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting.
• Experience analyzing financial data and preparing account analysis and financial reports.
• Experience with inventory accounting and cycle count adjustments.
• Working knowledge of fixed asset accounting, including capitalization, depreciation, transfers, retirements, reconciliation and construction work in progress (CWIP), preferred.
