We are seeking a motivated and well-organized research technician to join the Dahl research group at the Department of Microbiology, Oslo University Hospital. The position is temporary for a period of five months, with an anticipated starting date of 19 th August 2026. Extension may be possible, subject to successful grant applications and continued project funding.The Dahl research group investigates the molecular mechanisms governing gene regulation during oogenesis and early embryonic development, with broader relevance to fertility, stem cell biology, and cancer. Our work focuses on epigenetic and post-transcriptional processes that control gene expression in these critical developmental windows.A central theme of our research is how epigenetic regulation shapes transposable element activity and function, and how this contributes to genome stability and the control of gene expression. We further study RNA modifications, chromatin architecture, and histone modifications that regulate maternal transcripts and coordinate the transition to zygotic genome activation. The group develops and applies novel low-input and single-cell methods to interrogate RNA and chromatin states in rare cell types, including oocytes and early embryos. By combining experimental approaches with sequencing technologies and computational analyses, we aim to resolve regulatory mechanisms at high resolution and link molecular processes to functional outcomes in development.Our research spans fundamental questions in developmental biology and addresses clinically relevant challenges related to fertility and reproductive health. The position will primarily be associated with projects investigating transposable-element activity during stress in Drosophila and the development of mouse model systems for measuring transposable-element activity.
