POSITION: Trackless Electrician JOB GRADING: C - Lower DEPARTMENT: Engineering – Fixed Plant SITE: South Deep Gold Mine The On-Reef Infrastructure Electrician is accountable for the underground electrical infrastructure construction, installations and maintenance. The role also requires delivery on scheduled and unscheduled tasks assigned, to ensure safe and optimal Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE). A core accountability of the role is to maintain the highest possible safety standards in area of operation and influence. Minimum Requirements: Grade 12 or equivalent Electrical trade certificate with Medium Voltage certification Have 5 years’ experience as an electrician within an underground mechanised mining environment with a proven track record on electrical reticulation, cable joints, electrical protection and impact breakers Be declared medically fit for the position and environment, as determined by a risk-based medical examination at the Gold Fields Occupational Health Centre and pass a Heat Tolerance Screening test, and such other tests as may be required to assess the applicant’s suitability for employment NOTE: All required documentation must be uploaded to your online application to be considered for shortlisting Key Competencies: Proven track record in safety leadership Proven interpersonal, collaborative and communication skills Independent, proactive thinker and ability to schedule and deliver work within tight deadlines Demonstrated experience on fault finding, diagnosis and maintenance Demonstrated experience with legal inspections of equipment Proven track record of production achievements Duties and Responsibilities: Ensure health and safety of self and team members by applying relevant standards and procedures in all planning and execution of maintenance activities Perform inspections in accordance with the Mine Health and Safety Act regulations, and Company standards Contribute to a culture of zero harm by adhering to all requirements as laid down by legislation, health, safety, environmental, security policies, and procedures, and by the application of specific instructions to own work area and task completion Actively collaborate with peer groups to promote and develop effective teamwork Communicate with clients and supervisors to inform on maintenance activities performed and availability of equipment Perform equipment over-inspection on work done by apprentices and operatives where appropriate and provide feedback and guidance/coaching as required Ensure that condition monitoring of equipment, scheduled and planned maintenance are conducted effectively Timely response to breakdown management and appropriate root cause analysis and diagnosis Investigate, diagnose, and perform specialist electrical/electronic and related maintenance and repair of equipment and machinery according to set maintenance requirements, standards, and specifications Apply expert judgment with regards to repair versus replacement versus upgrade of components Identify spares requirements and order according to departmental procedure Work overtime, standby and be available for callouts and reassignment within department, should the need arise Closing Date: 13 August 2026 Please note that the Gold Fields code of conduct strictly prohibits the exchange of any payment as part of its recruitment process.
