Visa is seeking a proactive product and commercial lawyer to join as Senior Associate Counsel supporting Visa’s Global Product, IP and Services organizations. The position will report to a Vice President, Visa Legal - Global Product, IP and Services.
The role is responsible for supporting Visa Growth Products and Partnerships involving. This role will work closely with a small team of Visa Acceptance Solutions product counsels, other experienced Visa lawyers and compliance professionals, and regularly engage directly with business clients.
Applicants must be skilled at managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced and challenging, but highly rewarding, environment, have good judgment and strong analytical, organizational, client counseling, and negotiation skills, be self-motivated, be an optimistic, curious, and collaborative team player, and have a good sense of humor.
The role is based in San Francisco, CA.
Visa Is Looking For Someone Who Will:
Provide sophisticated and creative counseling to our product and business teams developing stablecoin and blockchain related products and initiativesDraft and negotiate commercial agreements that achieve business objectivesLead review of product related marketing materials, public relations and corporate communicationsManage regulatory support and evaluation of how shifts in regulatory landscapes may impact Visa and its partnersWork closely with Visa’s regional legal and business teams globally, and assist these teams in resolving regional and local issuesWhere required, coordinate and supervise outside counsel for timeliness, cost-effectiveness, and excellence of service and work productThis is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your hiring manager.
Basic Qualifications:
5 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelors Degree or at least 2 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 0 years of work experience with a PhDPreferred Qualifications:
6 or more years of work experience with a Bachelors Degree or 4 or more years of relevant experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or up to 3 years of relevant experience with a PhD5 or more years of post-JD work experience (or international equivalent)Valid license to practice in the state where the job is located or the ability to become state registered in-house counsel in good standingCombination of in-house and law firm experience preferredStrong academic credentials, including a J.D. degree (or international equivalent)Prior experience advising on payments, cryptocurrencies, blockchain, and financial services matters, particularly supporting global product launches and driving the legal and regulatory aspects of complex business initiativesFamiliarity with U.S. federal and state payments, cryptocurrency, and privacy lawsDemonstrated ability to drive execution in a team environment, integrating legal advice and business knowledge while providing balanced advice regarding risks and benefitsMust be able to work independently and collaboratively as needed, and engage directly with business clients at all levelsMust be a practical and creative problem-solver with strong business acumen and work ethicDeveloped business acumen, with ability to understand the company's business interests and anticipate the nature and magnitude of issues that could arise in various settingsMust be able to multitask and manage a significant workload and a number of clients with minimal supervision Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.
Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.
Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for this position is 180,600.00 to 289,300.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
