The Role: As a valued member of our Transportation Team, you’ll make a meaningful difference every day by helping our clients, who are older adults and people with different abilities, remain independent in their own home. You’ll provide safe, reliable transportation to medical appointments, day programs, shopping trips, and other essential errands while delivering exceptional customer service and compassionate support. You Are Someone Who: Enjoys connecting with people from all walks of life Thrives in a dynamic environment where every day is different Demonstrates exceptional customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills Respects client privacy, confidentiality and professional boundaries Is dependable, trustworthy, and able to work independently with minimal supervision Is compassionate, patient, and genuinely enjoys helping others Remains calm, flexible, and resourceful when unexpected situations arise Enjoys being part of a collaborative, responsive team Is comfortable using technology and mobile applications Is confident driving a variety of agency vehicles Has a good knowledge of Waterloo Region What You’ll Do Transportation Services Provide safe transportation of clients to medical appointments, day programs, and other errands following assigned routes provided by the Scheduler Assist clients in and out of the vehicle and escort them safely inside the building when required Assist clients with carrying items such as groceries and walker, as needed Maintain positive and friendly communication with clients throughout transport Pick up Meals on Wheels meals from designated locations and deliver them to various depots; collect empty meal bags and related delivery materials and return them to the office for cleaning and preparation for reuse Instruct and liaise with volunteers at meal depots about which bags to take and ensure all routes are correctly distributed Deliver flyers, mail and other supplies between locations, as required Complete other related department needs/tasks as required by supervisor or delegated authority Shopping Services Complete grocery list and escorted shops at a variety of grocery stores throughout Waterloo Region that are assigned to their vehicle by the Scheduler Either picks up client’s grocery list before shop, or calls client to obtain list of items requested, confirming client’s requests and inquiring for details Speak with clients and&
