Position: Facilities Custodian (2 Full-Time Opportunities Available) Start Date: August 2026 Employment Status: Full-time Reporting To: Facilities Supervisor Union Affiliation: Non-union Posting Date: July 28, 2026 Closing Date: August 11, 2026 at 4:30pm Position Summary: Perth County is seeking two (2) full-time Facilities Custodians to join the Facilities division. This position is primarily responsible for maintaining clean, safe, and supportive municipal facilities that reflect the County’s values and provide a welcoming environment for employees, visitors, and the public. Through the delivery of custodial services, routine inspections, and minor maintenance activities, the position helps ensure facilities are well-maintained, operational, and conducive to productive work, community engagement, and exceptional customer service, while adhering to established health, safety, and environmental standards. Primary Responsibilities: Perform routine cleaning and sanitization of offices, washrooms, break rooms, meeting rooms, hallways, and common areas in County facilities Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and polish floors, furniture, fixtures, and equipment to maintain a clean and professional work environment Collect, remove, and properly dispose of garbage, recycling, and other waste materials Clean and restock washrooms and kitchen facilities with required supplies such as soap, paper products, and sanitizing materials Conduct regular inspections of facilities to identify cleanliness, maintenance, safety, or repair needs and report concerns promptly to the Facilities Supervisor Operate and maintain custodial equipment, ensuring tools and supplies are used safely and stored properly Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and notify Facilities Supervisor when replenishment is required Respond promptly to spills, safety hazards, and emergency cleaning situations to ensure a safe environment for employees and visitors Support seasonal and weather-related duties, including snow removal, salting walkways, and maintaining safe access to building entrances, as required Ensure building security by locking and unlocking designated areas and reporting unusual activity or security concerns Work collaboratively with staff, contractors, and vendors to support the overall maintenance and appearance of County facilities Maintain accurate records of completed tasks, inspections, and maintenance activities as required Maintain daily vehicle/equipment logs Adhere to all Occupational Health and Safety regulations, organizational policies and procedures, and safe handling practices for cleaning chemicals, equipment, and materials; wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), and promptly report any workplace hazards, incidents, or safety concerns to the Facilities Supervisor Additional Duties Perform deep-cleaning projects on a scheduled basis Support preventative maintenance programs and other facility-related initiatives as assigned May be required to participate in on-call rotations, as needed Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications: Secondary school diploma 2 years related experience in custodial services within municipal, industrial, office or public-sector environments Posses Class "G" Drivers License in good standing Possess a valid Standard First Aid Training Certificate or willing to obtain Understanding of workplace health and safety regulations, including WHMIS and safe chemical handling procedures Ability to perform minor building maintenance and report maintenance issues as required Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a clean, safe, and professional environment Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team Strong organizational skills and ability to follow established procedures and schedules Effective verbal and written communication skills Customer service skills w
