Job Summary
Jonathan Dickinson Enterprises Inc. (JDE) is an active management company overseeing a portfolio of life sciences ventures in the psychedelic medicine sector, including:
* Ambio Life Sciences ? the world?s leading integrative ibogaine therapy clinic network, with state-of-the-art clinic operations in Mexico and Malta serving veterans, athletes, and patients with neurological and addiction-related conditions. * Terragnosis ? a supply chain management company focused on the ethical sourcing, production, and distribution of clinic-grade ibogaine products globally.
We are seeking a detail-oriented, discreet, and experienced Bookkeeper to support the financial operations across all JDE portfolio companies. This is a primarily remote role suited to someone who is highly self-directed, organized, and comfortable managing books across multiple entities in a fast-moving environment.
Weekly in-person meetings in Grimsby or Hamilton will be required as needed.
Key Responsibilities
Bookkeeping & Financial Records
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date books across multiple corporate entities using Microsoft Business Central and other systems. * Process accounts payable and receivable, including invoice entry, coding, and payment tracking. * Perform regular bank and credit card reconciliations across all entities. * Track and categorize expenses by entity, project, and cost centre. * Support month-end and year-end close processes in coordination with the external accountant.
Payroll & Compliance Support
* Assist with payroll processing and CRA remittances. * Maintain records for HST/GST filings and prepare source documents for remittances. * Support preparation of T4s and other statutory filings in coordination with the external accountant.
Reporting & Communication
* Prepare regular financial summaries and reports for the CEO across all portfolio companies. * Proactively flag discrepancies, anomalies, or outstanding items and recommend corrective action. * Coordinate with the Executive Assistant and senior management on budget tracking and expense approvals. * Assist Clients with processing wire and/or payments through Wise
Systems & Documentation
* Maintain organized digital filing systems for all financial records and source documents, ensuring easy retrieval and audit readiness. * Support development of bookkeeping SOPs and internal controls appropriate to a growing multi-entity structure. * Manage all confidential financial information with absolute discretion and professionalism.
Requirements
* 3+ years of bookkeeping experience, ideally in a small business / start-up environment. * Proficiency with accounting software ? Microsoft Business Central and/or Zoho strongly preferred. * Proficiency with Microsoft Office ? Word, Excel, etc. * Working knowledge of Canadian payroll, HST/GST, and CRA compliance requirements. * Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accuracy across multiple books simultaneously. * Comfortable working remotely and independently with minimal day-to-day supervision. * High degree of discretion in handling sensitive financial, corporate, and personnel information. * Clear written communication skills for reporting and coordination with the executive team.
Preferred
* Experience supporting a financial controller or senior manager directly in an entrepreneurial environment. * Familiarity with life sciences, regulated industries, or organizations with international operations. * Experience managing intercompany transactions across multiple related corporate entities. * Bookkeeping or accounting designation or coursework (e.g., CPB Canada, CPA). * Experience collaborating with an external accountant on year-end review or audit engagements.
