*Position Summary*

The Manufacturing Manager is responsible for the safe, efficient, and profitable manufacturing operation of all metal fabrication, machining and assembly activities.

This position oversees production resources, staffing, work schedules, shifts, equipment utilization, workflow, quality, and on-time delivery.

The Manufacturing Manager provides direct leadership to department managers, supervisors, machinists, fabricators, welders, painters, and other shop personnel. The role works closely with Engineering, Quality, Purchasing and Project Management to ensure jobs are completed according to drawings, specifications, schedules, quality requirements, and budgeted labour hours.

*Key Responsibilities*

*Production Operations*

* Oversight of operations at 3 locations. * Oversee all metal fabrication, welding, machining, assembly, finishing, and painting operations. * Develop and manage daily and weekly production schedules based on customer priorities, available capacity, material availability, and committed delivery dates. * Manage staffing levels and work shifts, including overtime, weekend work, and shift changes. * Monitor production progress and adjust resources or priorities when schedules are at risk. * Ensure jobs move efficiently through cutting, forming, machining, welding, finishing, inspection, and shipping. * Coordinate internal and outsourced manufacturing activities when required. * Maintain accurate reporting of job status, labour hours, machine hours, quantities completed, scrap, and rework. * Participate in daily/weekly production meetings and communicate schedule risks, resource constraints, and corrective actions.

*Leadership and Workforce Management*

* Lead, coach, and develop area leaders, machinists, fabricators, welders, painters, and shop personnel. * Establish clear expectations for safety, quality, productivity, attendance, housekeeping, and professional conduct. * Plan staffing requirements and participate in recruiting, interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and retaining skilled employees. * Approve employee schedules, overtime, time-off requests, and shift assignments based on production needs. * Monitor attendance, performance, and compliance with company policies. * Conduct performance reviews and recommend promotions, wage adjustments, training, discipline, or other employment actions. * Identify skill gaps and develop cross-training, apprenticeship, and employee-development plans. * Promote accountability, teamwork, communication, and a results-oriented shop culture.

*Scheduling and Capacity Planning*

* Review current backlog, upcoming workload, and available capacity by department, machine, and employee skill. * Develop practical production plans that balance customer delivery requirements with labour and equipment capacity. * Identify production bottlenecks and implement recovery plans. * Coordinate with Sales and Project Management before accepting schedules that may exceed available capacity. * Maintain visibility of production priorities and ensure supervisors and employees understand daily expectations.

*Quality*

* Ensure all manufactured products meet drawings, tolerances, weld requirements, customer specifications, and internal quality standards. * Reinforce operator responsibility for inspecting and verifying work before it moves to the next operation. * Lead corrective actions addressing manufacturing-related quality problems. * Ensure measuring equipment, inspection requirements, and job documentation are properly used. * Monitor first-pass yield, scrap, rework, and cost-of-quality pe
