About this role

Education: College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years. or equivalent experience. Work setting: Structural steel plant. Tasks: Lay out reference points and patterns. Study engineering drawings and blueprints. Assemble and fit plates and sections to form structures. Weld or bolt sections together. Set up and operate heavy-duty metal-working machines. Construct patterns and templates. Install fabricated components in final product. Rig, hoist and move materials to storage areas or within worksite. Welding techniques: MIG. TIG. Flux core arc welding (FCAW). Gas metal arc welding (GMAW). Equipment and machinery experience: Brakes and presses. Cutting torches. Drills. Grinder. Shears. Use computer numerical control (CNC) machines. Saws. Area of specialization: Structural metal or steel. Platework. Transportation/travel information: Valid driver's licence. Own transportation. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Combination of sitting, standing, walking. Attention to detail. Fast-paced environment. Own tools/equipment: Steel-toed safety boots. Welding helmet. Personal suitability: Efficient interpersonal skills. Excellent oral communication. Excellent written communication. Initiative. Organized. Reliability. Team player. Values and ethics.
