The Forklift Operator is primarily responsible for accurately processing orders per schedule, transporting and staging product, and loading and unloading product and supplies in a safe, efficient and timely manner. Safely and efficiently operate forklifts (sit down and stand-up reach) according to training and company safety policies. Read and understand Bills of Lading and Pick Sheets. Using daily pick sheets, accurately and efficiently pick full pallets and case quantities to build full pallets, ensuring first in first out method is followed, shrink wrap pallets when necessary, stage product for loading, check pallets for accuracy to order. Safely load and unload product and other supplies to/from trucks using appropriate forklifts. Obtains samples of incoming bulk product according to Quality Control Guidelines. Places product in appropriate storage areas. Shrinkwrap finished good pallets and transport/store into appropriate locations. Maintain clean and organized aisles and rack storage, consolidate partial pallets when needed. Ensure products, including partial pallets, are organized according to facility standards. Inventory product as needed, label, sort, wrap and tie product. Hand load product onto containers. Comply with company safety policies and maintain clean and orderly work area. Comply with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Safe Quality Food (SQF) procedures Accurately complete required paperwork in accordance with company standards. Additional duties as assigned by lead person and/or manage Working environment and physical demands Frequently (more than 75% of time) required to: stand and/or walk, use ladders and climb stairs, bend and stoop, reach, push/pull, kneel and crouch. Lift, carry and/or move items up to 100 pounds, without assistance; use hands to finger, handle, or touch objects, tools, or controls, to verbally communicate; and to hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. Frequently exposed to a non-climate-controlled environment. Frequently (more than 75% of time) exposed to dust and loud noise. Frequently (more than 75% of time) exposed to machinery and mechanical, moving parts. Personal protective equipment, such as hearing protection, safety glasses, hair net, and food safety-related items, is required.
