As a Rail Maintenance Assistant, you will help ensure our cars stay up to the required safety and operating standards. This behind-the-scenes position is a pivotal role in our daily operations. Assist senior mechanics with the repair and maintenance of domed rail cars. Perform nightly checks and repairs per FRA regulations and compliance. Use software program(s) for tracking parts inventory and repairs. Routinely cleans and services HVAC-R equipment. Maintain workspaces and promote shop safety by cleaning work areas and removing hazardous materials such as oil, coolant, and other fluids. Test electrical circuits and other related components using electrical testing equipment. Perform routine preventative maintenance on buildings and grounds. Safely operate scissor lifts, ATVs, and forklifts.
