Job Location: Lihir Island Workplace Type: Onsite Recruiter Name: Talitha Couch Pay Grade: 1.2 About Lihir Our Lihir Operation, located on the beautiful island of Niolam, approximately 800km north of Papua New Guinea's capital, Port Moresby, is one of the world’s largest gold mines. Set within a geothermically active, extinct volcanic crater, Lihir operates an open-pit mine producing refractory ore, which undergoes pressure oxidation and conventional leaching to recover gold. We are currently seeking experienced Crane Operator & Rigger Dogman professionals to join our Maintenance team at Lihir Operations. These roles play a vital part in supporting the safe and efficient operation of cranes and lifting equipment across the site. About the Role Reporting to the relevant Maintenance Supervisor, you will be responsible for carrying out crane operations, rigging, dogging and lifting activities to support scheduled maintenance, breakdown repairs and shutdown work across processing and non-processing operational areas. Key responsibilities include:
• Safely operate mobile and fixed lifting equipment • Perform rigging and dogging activities in accordance with site procedures • Inspect lifting gear and equipment before use • Execute planned maintenance and breakdown support activities • Participate in shutdown and project work as required • Ensure compliance with all safety, operational and environmental standards • Contribute to a proactive safety culture through hazard identification and risk management About You To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
• Experience operating cranes in a mining, construction or heavy industrial environment • Current Crane Operator qualifications and applicable licences • Current Rigger and Dogman certification • Sound knowledge of safe lifting practices and load management • Strong commitment to health, safety and environmental standards • Ability to work effectively within a team environment • Good communication and problem-solving skills • A proactive approach to safety and continuous improvement What We Offer At Newmont, we value our employees and offer:
