Job description: Job description:We're seeking an iSeries System Operator to support the daily operations of a core banking platform within our Technical Operations organization. In this role, you will monitor and maintain IBM i (iSeries/AS400) production environments, support end-of-day processing, respond to operational events, and ensure the stability and availability of critical banking systems. This position offers the opportunity to work with mission-critical financial applications, support high-availability banking environments, and collaborate closely with Application Operations, Infrastructure, Development, and Client Support teams in a fast-paced fintech environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Monitor IBM i (iSeries/AS400) production environments and ensure successful daily processing cycles • Execute and support end-of-day, beginning-of-day, and scheduled batch processing activities • Monitor and manage jobs, job queues, output queues, spool files, and system messages • Investigate and resolve production incidents, escalating issues when appropriate • Support on-call rotations for mission-critical Signature banking applications • Troubleshoot application, database, infrastructure, and processing issues impacting production services • Coordinate with developers, application support teams, infrastructure engineers, and client-facing teams during incident resolution • Maintain operational documentation, runbooks, and processing procedures • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on operational efficiency, automation, monitoring, and process standardization
Required Qualifications
• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field • 3+ years of experience supporting IBM i (iSeries/AS400) production environments • Experience with production operations, batch processing, and enterprise application support • Working knowledge of IBM i operational commands, job management, and message handling • Experience supporting high-availability business-critical applications • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills • Ability to work effectively in a 24x7 production support environment • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience supporting Banking solutions • Experience with IBM i Access Client Solutions (ACS) and 5250 emulation • Knowledge of DB2 for i databases and related operational processes • Familiarity with job scheduling platforms and batch automation tools • Knowledge of ITIL Incident, Problem, Change, and Release Management practices • Previous experience in financial services, banking, or fintech organizations
