Position Summary The Figure Finishing & Props Team is responsible for maintaining the visual quality and show readiness of static/animatronics figures (human & animal), faux fur, skins, and attraction props throughout the Park. This role combines hands-on artistic craftsmanship with day-to-day team leadership, maintenance planning, and proactive show quality management. The position works primarily during overnight shifts and partners closely with Operations, Attraction Engineering, and Creative teams to ensure all attraction assets consistently meet Disney show standards.
Working Environment This position primarily supports attraction maintenance activities during non-operating hours and may require: • Regular overnight shift work. • Occasional outdoor work in varying weather conditions. • Work on elevated platforms, aerial lifts, ladders, and access systems. • Work in dark or restricted-access attraction environments. • Work near water features and show systems. • Safe handling of paints, coatings, solvents, adhesives, and other maintenance-related chemicals. Candidates with less experience but strong artistic potential and relevant technical skills are encouraged to apply and may be considered for a junior-level position within the Figure Finishing & Props team. Basic Qualifications: • Experience in painting, finishing, decorative arts, prop fabrication, mascot fabrication, mold & casting, scenic production, or a related artistic/technical field. • Knowledge of various paint systems, coatings, surface preparation methods, and finishing techniques. • Ability to identify color, texture, and finish variations and reproduce them accurately. • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to maintaining high show-quality standards. • Willingness to work overnight shifts as the primary work schedule, with occasional day shifts based on operational requirements. • Ability to work at heights, in confined or dimly lit environments, near water features, outdoors, and in environments involving chemical products. • Physically capable of lifting materials, climbing access equipment, and performing hands-on maintenance work. • Flexible, positive, and adaptable mindset with the ability to respond to changing operational and business needs. • A caring team player who values collaboration, supports fellow Cast Members, and contributes to a safe, respectful, and inclusive work environment. • Enthusiastic, approachable, and fun to work with, bringing positive energy and a passion for creating exceptional guest experiences.
Preferred Qualifications: • Experience in themed entertainment, attractions, animatronic or static figures, museum exhibits, scenic art, film production, mascot fabrication, or related industries. • Hands-on experience in: • Themed painting and decorative finishing • Faux fur grooming and restoration • Basic costume repair • Sculpting • Mold making and casting • Prop fabrication and refurbishment • Airbrush application techniques • Industrial and specialty coatings
• Basic knowledge of soft skins fabrication. • Experience with 3D scanning, 3D modeling, and 3D printing technologies. • Experience in team leading or refurbishment project management.
Preferred Education: • Higher Diploma, university degree, or equivalent experience in Fine Arts, Theatre & Entertainment Arts, Scenic Art, Prop Fabrication, Industrial Design, or related disciplines.
Responsibilities: • Lead and coordinate a small team of artist and in the execution of figure finishing, props maintenance, and refurbishment projects. • Develop, prioritize, and manage daily work plans to ensure maintenance activities are completed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with operational requirements. • Execute and coordinate ad-hoc maintenance requests, emergency repairs, and show recovery work to support attraction operations. • Proactively inspect attraction figures, costumes, fur, skins, and props, initiating work orders and maintenance plans to sustain show readiness and prevent show quality degradation. • Monitor attraction assets and recommend refurbishment strategies, including preventive maintenance cycle, full-scale skin replacements, fur replacement programs, and major figure restoration projects. • Ensure compliance with all safety procedures and promote a strong safety culture by maintaining a safe working environment for Cast Members, contractors, and partners. • Perform figure finishing and restoration work (includes grooming, styling, cleaning, repair, theme painting) on static/ animatronics figures, faux fur, scenic props, and show elements across Disney attractions, including but no limited to Mystic Manor, World of Frozen, "it's a small world", Jungle River Cruise, and other attractions. • Maintain decorative finishes on both hard and soft figure skins using a variety of coatings, paints, adhesives, fillers, and specialized application techniques to achieve and maintain Disney Show quality standards. • Support fabrication and refurbishment projects involving sculpting, mold making, casting, texturing, finishing, and prop fabrication. • Collaborate with Attraction Engineering, Show Quality Standards, Operations, Costuming, and other partners to coordinate maintenance and refurbishment work. • Maintain workshop equipment, tools, materials, and inventory to support daily operation requirements.
