Training Spec II
Job Description: We are seeking a skilled and highly organized Training Specialist to support training activities across both electronics assembly and machining operations within our aerospace manufacturing facility. This role is responsible for developing, delivering, and maintaining training programs that ensure employees are fully qualified to perform assembly, machining, inspection, and manufacturing tasks in accordance with aerospace industry and company standards. Key Responsibilities: • Develop, update, and maintain technical training materials covering electronics assembly processes and machining operations, including work instructions, process guides, lesson plans, and hands-on demonstrations. • Conduct classroom and on-the-floor training for new hires, cross-training initiatives, and ongoing qualification or certification programs for both disciplines. • Provide practical skills training for electronics assembly tasks such as soldering, crimping, cable harness fabrication, PCB assembly, ESD control, IPC workmanship standards, and general aerospace manufacturing practices. • Deliver machining operations training for equipment such as CNC mills, lathes, manual machines, drill presses, and precision cutting tools. This includes instruction in setup, tooling selection, machine operation, inspection techniques, and adherence to safety and quality requirements. • Train employees in blueprint reading and critical interpretation of manufacturing drawings. • Administer skills assessments, validate hands-on competency, and maintain accurate and audit-ready training records. • Partner with manufacturing engineering, quality, and production leadership to ensure training content reflects current processes, tooling, equipment upgrades, and quality standards. • Identify skill gaps across machining and electronics assembly operations, propose targeted training solutions, and support continuous improvement and new technology rollout. • Ensure compliance with industry standards, including IPC-A-610, J-STD-001, machining and safety standards, and company-specific requirements. • Provide coaching and mentorship to employees to reinforce proper workmanship, safe machine operation, and high-quality production behaviors.
Required Skills and Education: • High School Diploma and six years of related experience. • Relevant experience in both electronics assembly and machining operations within an aerospace, defense, or other high-reliability manufacturing environment. • Strong working knowledge of IPC standards, ESD control, CNC machining fundamentals, machine safety, and inspection techniques. • Experience developing and delivering structured technical training programs. • Proficient with reading blueprints and interpreting technical manufacturing documentation. • Excellent communication, presentation, and coaching skills with the ability to translate technical concepts into clear, practical training. • Highly organized and capable of working in fast-paced, hands-on production settings. • Certifications such as IPC Trainer (CIT), IPC Specialist (CIS), or machining-related credentials are preferred. Work Environment: This role is fully onsite and requires regular engagement with production teams in both electronics assembly and machining areas. The position involves hands-on demonstrations, use of tools/equipment, and time spent on the production floor.

Preferred Skills and Education: • Prior experience supporting Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous‑improvement initiatives. • Demonstrated ability to create training materials using modern digital tools (e‑learning modules, video walkthroughs, interactive guides). • Experience collaborating with cross‑functional groups such as Quality, Industrial Engineering, or Program Management. • Familiarity with aerospace or defense-specific compliance frameworks (AS9100, Nadcap) from a training or process‑development standpoint. • Proven ability to assess skill gaps and design targeted technical upskilling plans for production teams. • Experience conducting root‑cause investigations and integrating corrective actions into training content. • Strong capability in documenting processes, creating job aids, and standardizing work instructions. • Experience supporting onboarding programs for manufacturing environments or mentoring new technicians. • Demonstrated proficiency in using manufacturing data (yield, defects, throughput) to inform training priorities. • Ability to adapt training methods for diverse learning styles and multilingual manufacturing teams.
