About this role
The role & impact
Xero's Global Strategy & Operations (GS&O) team partners closely with decision makers across the company to lead critical strategic and operational initiatives, spanning company strategy, market intelligence, internal transformation and the operating rhythms that turn priorities into action. This role sits at the centre of that work, helping shape where Xero plays and how it wins, while helping leaders translate priorities into action through planning, governance, performance rhythms and cross-functional execution.
You'll work across strategy development, annual planning, OKR setting, executive reporting and Board papers, alongside the delivery of high-priority programmes that need strong structure, pace and alignment. You'll also bring an AI builder mindset to everything you do, shaping AI-enabled ways of working that raise the quality, speed and leverage of the team's output.
The team & how they connect
GS&O partners across every part of Xero, from product and engineering through to finance and people, translating ambitious strategy into clear, executable plans. It's a small, senior team trusted to bring order to ambiguity, working closely with senior leaders to structure problems, build recommendations and keep delivery on track.
Initially, you will focus on
Contributing to the ongoing definition and evolution of Xero's long-term strategy, including evaluating the changing landscape Xero operates in
Structuring and solving business problems through rigorous, fact-based, quantitative analysis alongside a range of internal stakeholders
Developing market intelligence that identifies trends and anticipates shifts to inform strategic decision-making
Leveraging the latest in AI tools and capabilities to reimagine how works gets done
Running the operating rhythms that translate priorities into action, including annual planning, OKRs and Board reporting
Where and how you can work
This role is based in Melbourne or Sydney, working in a hybrid model that combines in office collaboration with the flexibility to work from home. Our boost days bring the team together in person for connection and collaborative work, with the rest of the week flexible to suit how you work best.
Here are some of the things we're looking for
Experience at a top-tier consulting firm highly preferred; or, comparable experience in strategy, operations, transformation, and/or related roles within a global technology or SaaS environment.
You bring a strong strategic toolkit: turning ambiguous briefs into sharp, well-structured problems, with a clear view on hypotheses and the data needed to test them
Analytical rigour comes naturally to you, with the ability to model data, build business cases and independently work through complex information
Synthesising analysis into a crisp, well-argued recommendation, with explicit and defensible trade-offs, is one of your strengths
Building and maintaining the processes, governance and operating rhythms that turn priorities into coordinated action is familiar territory for you
Relationships form quickly for you across all levels, and you drive alignment through structured consultation and consistent follow-through
Using AI tools to reimagine and improve how work gets done is already part of how you operate, not an afterthought
Apply even if your experience isn't a perfect match! At Xero, we hire based on your skills, passion, and the unique perspective you can bring to enhance our culture and team.
