We are pleased to be advertising for a 1.0wte (Monday- Friday) Assistant Psychologist to join us at an exciting time of development within the Neurodiversity Pathway, Torbay and South team.
This role is ideal for those looking to develop clinical experience in working within childrens services and Neurodiversity, including individuals preparing for clinical training. You'll work under the supervision of a Clinical Psychologist as part of a multidisciplinary team, supporting service delivery through direct clinical work, service evaluation and research activity.
We welcome applications from psychology graduates with strong academic backgrounds and previous Assistant Psychologist or relevant clinical experience.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will:
Contribute a range of psychological services to the clients of the Children and Family Health Devon (CFHD), under the supervision of a qualified Clinical Psychologist.
Undertake psychological screening, assessment and interventions with children and their parents/carers presenting with a range of emotional and behavioural difficulties; this will include producing reports, direct and indirect individual and group work.
Work independently to an appropriate level, under supervision and abiding by the professional guidelines and code of conduct for registered clinical psychologists.
Support research activity including audit, service evaluation, literature reviews and research as required and in agreement with the Clinical Psychology Lead and managers of the service.
The post-holder is responsible for their own workload, but is expected to engage with regular supervision from a qualified Clinical Psychologist and review through the management process.

Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
Bachelor Degree at Honours level, giving eligibility for graduate membership of the British Psychological Society
Desirable
Further postgraduate training in relevant area of professional psychology, health and social care practice and/or research design and analysis.
Experience Essential
Experience in working with children, young people and families.
Desirable
Experience of working with children and young people with emotional and mental health difficulties, in a clinical or healthcare environment and / or community-based setting
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Essential
Ability to plan and prioritise workload and work to deadlines. Ability to work under pressure and to plan and organise in the face of complex and competing demands. Ability to translate basic psychological theory to clinical populations in a clinical setting. High standard of report writing. Ability to travel and work in a variety of locations, e.g. clinic base, schools, home visits. The post holder must demonstrate a commitment to research and engage in a programme of research activity and audit as required.
