About this role

Job summary

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Mental Health Nurse to join our Crisis Assessment and Intensive Support Team (CAIST) within the Suffolk Crisis Service. This is a dynamic and rewarding role supporting children and young people in acute mental health distress.

You will be responsible for assessing referrals, delivering direct care, and managing a caseload in collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team. The role involves work in a fast-paced environment where your clinical expertise and decision-making will have a direct impact on service users and their families.

Main duties of the job

Undertake direct assessments and deliver care plans for children and young people in crisis.

Ensure the appropriateness of referrals and continuity of care across services.

Work collaboratively with multi-agency partners including CAMHS, social care, and education.

Provide supervision and support to junior staff and students.

Maintain accurate mental health clustering and documentation across all stages of care.

Contribute to service development and quality improvement initiatives.

The post holder will be working within a community CAMHS Crisis team, ensuring the appropriateness of referrals, undertaking direct assessment and planning and delivering direct patient care with appropriate supervision, ensuring continuity of practice and working within a multi- disciplinary and multi-agency environment.

Managing a caseload and the provision of Mental Health Care services to people with mental health care needs.

Support and advising to other health care professionals. To support aspects of service development.

Provide an appropriate learning environment for relevant UEA students.

To be responsible for accurate mental health clustering of all patients on admission, discharge and at review.

To ensure all mental health clustering information is passed onto other Trust teams or services on transfer of patients.

To ensure the accuracy and quality of mental health clustering activity within the team.

**This post attracts a recruitment premium of £3,000 (pro-rata for part time roles). This is a one off payment with half paid on appointment and half paid after the completion of a satisfactory probation period (6 months). The premium is taxable. Please note that should you leave employment, or choose to move to an alternative post within the Trust that does not attract this recruitment premium, you will be required to reimburse all or some it, as follows: 100% of the value of the premium in the first 12 months; 50% of the value of the premium in the period 12 months to 2 years following appointment. Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

Registered Mental Health Nurse with the relevant professional registration Practice Supervisor / Practice Assessor training (in line with NMC Standards for Student Supervision and Assessment 2018)

Experience Essential

Experience of working within a multidisciplinary team Familiar with risk assessment and its management

Skills Essential

Able to demonstrate the ability to process, plan and delegate work

Desirable

Able to time manage and reflect on clinical practice

Others Essential

Be able and willing to undertake further training / development specific to the role.
