About this role

Job summary Band 2 - Switchboard Operator - Stepping Hill Hospital Nightshift 27 hours per week

Working hours worked three nights per week over a three week rota

We are looking for enthusiastic and reliable individual to join our busy hospital Switchboard team. As the first point of contact for staff, patients, relatives, and external callers, you'll play a vital role in ensuring effective communication and supporting patient safety across the Trust.

This is a fast-paced and rewarding role where no two shifts are the same. The successful candidate will work the core hours as above, however flexibility is essential, and you may be required to work morning or night shifts in line with service needs.

Important Notice on Visa Sponsorship Eligibility

Please note that whilst the trust does offer sponsorship this role isunfortunatelynot eligible for visa sponsorshipunder the UK Health and Care Worker visa route. This is due to the position not meeting theminimum salary threshold of £25,000 per annumand/or the requiredskill levelset by UK Visas and Immigration.

Main duties of the job

What you'll do

Handle high-volume internal and external calls Respond immediately to emergency calls (e.g. cardiac arrest, fire, security) Activate emergency response teams following Trust protocols Operate and maintain the bleep system Support on-call staff and maintain updated rotas Provide out-of-hours support to departments including the Patient Centre Work as part of a supportive team, with some lone-working shifts What we're looking for

Excellent communication and customer service skills Ability to stay calm and professional during emergencies Confident with IT systems (email, MS Office) Experience in a call-handling or customer-facing environment Flexible approach to working hours, including nights and weekends A positive attitude and commitment to NHS values What we offer

Education and Qualifactions Essential

Good standard of general education

Experience Essential

Experience of working in a busy switchboard, call centre, customer service role. Experience of handling a high volume of calls.

Desirable

Experience of working in a hospital environment.

Good communication written and verbal Handling sensitive situations.

Able to communicate effectively with front line staff.

Knowledge Essential

Ability to use Microsoft office packages, spreadsheets, email, internet systems and the ability to adapt to any new software required
