Job summary
Rheumatology Medicine is seeking an experienced Medical Secretary to join our Secretarial Team. We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic and able to support the team to deliver a professional and responsive service to patients and professionals alike. A flexible approach to service demand is required.
Main duties of the job
The ideal candidates will have strong secretarial skills and have attained RSA Level 3 typing/word processing or equivalent qualification, or experience as a minimum. Experience using digital dictation and experience of medical terminology is essential.
To liaise with and act as a point of contact for clinical and non-clinical staff, patients and GP's via telephone and email. The post holder should be polite and empathetic to the patient's needs and be able to communicate effectively when dealing with difficult situations/conversations.
Support the maintenance and updating of all patients' referral to treatment pathways, including outpatient clinic outcomes, results tracking, any waiting list arrangements, and associated appointments, as required by the service.
