Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Respiratory Specialist Physiotherapist to join our large, innovative community-based team working across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.
This role will support the ongoing development of the Community Respiratory Service, delivering home-based respiratory assessment, intervention, treatment and support to children and young people with complex disabilities. The service aims to reduce the frequency of acute hospital admissions related to respiratory difficulties and facilitate earlier, planned and safe discharge from hospital.
The successful candidate will demonstrate flexibility, initiative and excellent organisational skills, working effectively as part of a multidisciplinary and multi-agency team. You will be responsible for managing a designated respiratory caseload of patients with complex needs, including those requiring long-term ventilation support. Effective time management and the ability to work autonomously are essential.
You will work within the Diana Community Nursing Team and alongside our colleagues within the acute services at University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust (UHL) to deliver high-quality, patient-centred care.
A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes are essential requirements of this post.

Main duties of the job
Main duties and responsibilities
Coordinate service delivery - Work with professionals to coordinate, deliver and evaluate the Paediatric Respiratory Integrated Nursing and Physiotherapy Service in the community.
Liaise with MDT - Maintain close liaison with the respiratory MDT at UHL and other acute settings to support shared care and smooth transition between acute and community provision.
Develop the service - Contribute to service development and be accountable for ongoing progression, including producing detailed reports and monthly updates.
Analyse complex data - Collect, analyse and present highly complex data to support forecasting of future service capacity and demand.
Apply advanced reasoning - Use advanced clinical reasoning, critical thinking and reflection to support assessment and management, ensuring holistic care across health, education and social care.
Communicate complex information - Communicate highly complex information effectively with patients, families, carers, physiotherapy colleagues, healthcare professionals and external agencies.
Supervise and teach - Supervise, teach and develop physiotherapy colleagues, students, assistants, nursing staff, parents, carers and teachers using Evidence Based Practice.
Contribute to MDT - Maintain strong communication links within the wider MDT to ensure holistic care for children, including those with highly complex needs, achieving the best possible clinical outcomes.
