As a Trading Risk Specialist, you will be at the forefront of market risk analysis, reporting, and governance, helping the organization navigate major regulatory developments, including the implementation of the Fundamental Review of the Trading Book (FRTB). This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced market risk professional who wants to influence decision-making, enhance risk frameworks, and contribute to the continuous improvement of risk reporting and analytics. You will work closely with global stakeholders across Trading Risk Management, Product Control, Financial Markets, and Technology teams while serving as a trusted partner in delivering accurate and insightful risk information to senior management and governance committees.
About the Team The role is part of the Market Risk Operations Expertise Team within the WB COO Financial Markets domain. Our mission is to deliver high-quality market risk and Financial Markets P&L analysis through close collaboration with ING teams across the globe. We support critical risk management processes, ensure regulatory compliance, and continuously improve reporting, controls, and automation capabilities. As financial markets and regulatory expectations evolve, our team remains focused on innovation, operational excellence, and providing valuable insights that help drive informed business decisions.
What You'll Do As a Trading Risk Specialist, you will lead the analysis and interpretation of market risk metrics while providing meaningful commentary to stakeholders worldwide.
Your responsibilities will include:
• Performing daily market risk analysis and reporting activities • Preparing and reviewing risk commentary for: • Historical Value at Risk (HVaR) • FRTB Standardized Approach (FRTB-SA) • FRTB Internal Models Approach (FRTB-IMA) • Stress Testing • Issuer Risk • Backtesting and exception analysis
• Analyzing movements and key drivers impacting risk metrics and regulatory capital • Preparing management information and materials for senior leadership, Market Risk Management Teams, and governance committees • Investigating reporting anomalies and coordinating resolution efforts with global stakeholders • Collaborating with Trading Risk Management, Product Controllers, Front Office teams, and Technology partners • Supporting process enhancement, reporting optimization, and automation initiatives • Contributing to the growth of Trading Risk expertise within the team • Driving continuous improvement while maintaining strong operational controls
What We're Looking For
Required Experience
• Minimum 5 years of experience in Market Risk, Trading Risk, Product Control, Risk Reporting, Financial Markets Operations, or a related field • Strong expertise in: • HVaR calculations • Backtesting and outlier analysis • Stress Testing • Issuer Risk • FRTB-SA (including SBM methodology and Residual Risk Add-On) • FRTB-IMA • Regulatory capital analysis within Trading Risk
• Solid understanding of Basel III/IV market risk regulations • Experience preparing risk reporting and management information for senior stakeholders and governance forums • Knowledge of Financial Markets products and trading activities
Technical Skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities • Proficiency in: • SQL • Python • Excel
• Working knowledge of VBA • Experience with automation and analytics tools such as Alteryx or Power BI is an advantage • Understanding of data lineage and risk systems architecture is beneficial

Qualifications
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, Business, or a related discipline • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
