To efficiently manage and deliver dynamic catering, bar and hospitality functions including food preparation and delivery provision for high profile prestigious banquets, functions, and events, including civic functions.
To undertake hands-on practical food preparation, cooking and presentation of food and snacks ensuring compliance with Food Hygiene, Licensing and Health, Safety legislation and codes of practice.
To provide excellent customer care and professional advice to all visitors and clients in respect of the catering functions. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES: 1. To promote and safeguard the welfare of children, young people and/or vulnerable adults.
2. Supports the Area Manager in the development and delivery of high-quality hospitality and catering activities, including the co-ordination and planning of major civic and corporate banqueting functions and weddings.
3. Provide hands-on practical expertise including the preparation, cooking and presentation of food and snacks in strict adherence to Food Hygiene, Licensing and Health and Safety legislation and codes of practice.
4. Ensure the catering operations comply with all relevant health and safety legislation and food safety conditions. Ensuring compliance with risk assessments, inventory checks, policies and operational procedures designed to improve and support service delivery in pursuit of excellence.
5. Assist the Area Manager to ensure robust and effective stock control procedures are in place, ordering products through nominated suppliers ensuring maximum cost efficiency within the agreed parameters and enabling the service to respond to and meet customer requirements.
6. Assist with effectively devising, costing, monitoring and reviewing all menus, beverages, and other provisions that attain customer specifications, are commercial viability and exceed expectations.
7. Contribute to the development of the Catering and Hospitality Service promoting a professional image to customers so as to build confidence in the service and maintain high levels of customer satisfaction.
8. Assists in the preparation of staff rotas and working arrangements to effectively meet the needs of the service, ensuring deadlines are achieved with maximum efficiency and minimum costs.
9. Assists in the development and costing of creative menus including bespoke menus for one-off/special events participating in meetings with customers as appropriate to ensure customer specifications and commercially viability are attained.
10. Assist with the setting up of rooms, preparation and cleaning of areas as required to ensure the operational needs are met and the provision of a clean and welcoming atmosphere is maintained at all times.
11. Support the achievement of sales revenue targets optimising profitability and efficiency within the service.
12. Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety, licensing and food hygiene regulations implementing, and monitoring risk assessments, policies and operational procedures designed to safeguard the wellbeing of both staff and customers and in the pursuit of service excellence.
13. Assist to ensuring team members are competent and well trained and able to provide an excellent customer service, undertaking regular staff training on health and safety and food hygiene procedures to keep staff up to date with development and renew awareness.
14. The Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 and associated legislation places responsibilities for health and safety on Hull City Council, as your employer and you as an employee of the council. In addition to the Councils overall duties, the post holder has personal responsibility for their own health, safety and wellbeing and that of other employees; additional and more specific responsibilities are identified in the Council’s Corporate H&S policy.
