About this role

A unique opportunity to influence the future of primary healthcare in Taranaki.

At Midlands Health Network, we're passionate about creating healthier communities and ensuring everyone has access to high-quality, equitable healthcare. We're looking for an inspiring leader to join our team as District Manager – Taranaki.

This is an opportunity to make a genuine difference. You'll have the autonomy to lead, the ability to influence primary healthcare across the region, and the chance to build strong partnerships that improve health outcomes for the people of Taranaki.

You'll be a trusted leader, relationship builder, mentor and advocate, working alongside general practices, iwi, Hauora Māori providers, Health New Zealand, community organisations and our wider Pinnacle team.

Te whiwhinga mahi: The opportunity

As District Manager, you'll provide strategic and operational leadership across the region while leading a passionate multidisciplinary team. You'll inspire others, champion innovation, and build strong partnerships that enable meaningful and lasting change.

A core focus of this role is strengthening and supporting our network of general practices and GP leaders across Taranaki. You'll build trusted relationships, understand the opportunities and challenges facing primary care, and work alongside practices to develop sustainable models of care that improve health outcomes. Through coaching, advocacy and collaboration, you'll empower practice leaders to navigate change, embrace innovation, and thrive.

This role is all about people. You'll be equally comfortable sitting around a board table, partnering with Health New Zealand, iwi and community leaders, supporting practices through change, or coaching your team to achieve their full potential. Together, you'll help shape the future of primary healthcare across Taranaki.

He kōrero mōu: About you

You'll be an experienced people leader with a genuine passion for primary healthcare and building strong, enduring relationships. You are confident working with a diverse range of stakeholders and thrive in environments where collaboration, influence, and strategic thinking are essential. A clinical background is desirable; however, we also welcome applications from experienced leaders with equivalent health sector experience.

You'll be:

• An outstanding, values-led leader who brings out the best in others.

• Driven, passionate and knowledgeable about the Taranaki community.

• A natural relationship builder with credibility across the health sector and community.

• Passionate about improving equity and health outcomes for Māori and all communities.

• Confident engaging with iwi, Hauora Māori providers, Health New Zealand, general practice and community stakeholders.

• Commercially astute, with the ability to use data and insights to inform service development and decision-making.

• Future-focused, innovative and comfortable leading change.

• A mentor and coach who develops high-performing teams.

• Authentic, approachable and committed to creating positive, connected and enjoyable workplaces.

• Committed to working in a way that reflects Te Ao Māori and tikanga Māori, with a willingness to use and continue developing your Te Reo Māori.
