Glassboro Child Development Centers is seeking a dependable Temporary Nutrition Assistant to help prepare, package, and deliver healthy meals and snacks for children across our preschool programs. This is a great opportunity for someone with food service experience who enjoys working independently while being part of a caring team.

Position Details

• Temporary Position: September 8, 2026 – December 23, 2026

• Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM – 12:30 PM (25 hours/week)

• Pay Rate: $17.98 per hour

• Status: Non-Exempt

• Benefits: This is a temporary position. Employee benefits and paid time accruals do not apply, with the exception of New Jersey Earned Sick Leave.

What You'll Do

Every day, you'll help ensure children receive nutritious meals in a clean, safe, and organized environment by:

• Assisting with food purchasing and inventory

• Preparing, packaging, and transporting meals and food service supplies to preschool locations

• Making approved menu substitutions when necessary

• Following CACFP and health department food safety regulations

• Washing and sanitizing dishes, utensils, equipment, and food preparation areas

• Preparing classroom bleach sanitizing solutions

• Cleaning countertops, floors, kitchen equipment, and food preparation areas

• Monitoring and accommodating children's dietary restrictions and allergies

• Restocking paper goods and food service supplies throughout agency locations

Additional Responsibilities

• Clean refrigerators, freezers, cabinets, sinks, and storage areas

• Maintain required temperature logs for refrigerators, freezers, dishwashers, and sinks

• Receive deliveries from vendors and the Food Bank of South Jersey

• Deliver food and supplies to school-age programs and agency events as needed

• Remove trash and maintain a clean kitchen environment

• Attend staff meetings and trainings

Qualifications

Required

• High school diploma or equivalent

• Current ServSafe Certification

• Experience with commercial food preparation and safe food handling

• Valid New Jersey driver's license

• Reliable transportation and current automobile insurance

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

• Ability to frequently use stairs

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

Knowledge & Skills

Successful candidates will have knowledge of:

• Food preparation and sanitation practices

• Commercial kitchen operations

• CACFP regulations and food safety requirements

• Children's nutritional needs in a multicultural setting

Working Conditions

This position works primarily in the agency's preschool kitchen, preparing and packaging meals and snacks for children. Responsibilities include driving between agency locations to transport meals and food service supplies, working in classrooms as needed, shopping for food and supplies, and occasional evening or weekend hours to support agency events or operational needs.

Professional Development

Employees are expected to complete 12 hours of relevant professional development annually.
