Job Type: Full Time (Ottawa / In-Office)

Total Compensation: CAD $90,000 - $104,000 base salary - Placement within range based on experience and qualifications

Vacancy Status: This posting is for an existing vacancy at Anvil. We are actively hiring for this role

The Role

As the Business Technology Specialist, you are the frontline engine for Anvil’s internal technology and corporate security operations. This is a high-impact, hands-on role responsible for ensuring that our staff, systems, and physical offices are secure, functional, and ready for our mission-critical work in the defense and national security sectors.

Reporting directly to the Manager, Business Technology & Facilities, you will own the day-to-day tactical execution of our IT services, endpoint security, and facilities logistics. Your work is the foundation upon which our CPCSC Level 2/3 and Protected B compliance is built. You thrive in a high-growth environment where you can solve technical problems in real-time while maintaining the rigorous documentation standards required for a defense contractor.

This is a full-time position based in Ottawa / In-Office.

What you bring

Security Clearance

• Must be eligible for Government of Canada Secret (Level II) security clearance.

Education & Certifications

• Diploma or degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field preferred; equivalent professional experience will be considered.

• Security+, ITIL Foundation, Jamf Certified Admin, or Google Workspace Administrator certification is an asset, but not required with sufficient hands-on experience.

Experience

• 2-4 years in IT Support, Systems Administration, or Junior Security Operations, preferably in a regulated industry (SaaS, Defense, Finance, or Government).

• Hands-on experience with Google Workspace Administration, MDM solutions (Jamf/Intune), and basic networking (VPNs, firewalls, Wi-Fi).

Working Style

• Understanding that "if it isn't documented, it didn't happen." You have an eye for detail and follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) precisely. You route exceptions, deviations, and ambiguous situations to your manager rather than improvising.

• You enjoy being the "go-to" person for technical solutions and take pride in keeping the office running smoothly.

Additional Requirements

• Given our 99.9% uptime commitment for internal business systems, occasional after-hours or on-call availability may be required to resolve critical incidents.

• This role involves periodic lifting and moving of IT hardware and peripherals (up to 25 lbs) as part of asset lifecycle management and office setup duties.

What You’ll Do

Technical Operations & Helpdesk

• Identity & Access Management (IAM): Execute the full lifecycle of employee access—provisioning accounts, managing permissions in Google Workspace and internal SaaS tools, and ensuring 100% accurate offboarding. Run periodic access recertification reports and execute the resulting changes; formal recertification sign-off is attested by the Manager, Business Technology & Facilities.

• Endpoint Hardening: Deploy and manage corporate hardware using MDM (Jamf/Intune), ensuring every device meets our strict Protected B encryption and configuration baselines.

• Troubleshooting: Serve as the primary point of contact for employee technical issues, from hardware failures and Wi-Fi connectivity to software access hurdles.

• Systems Maintenance: Perform routine server patching, software updates, and network troubleshooting to ensure 99.9% uptime for internal business systems.

Security Execution & Evidence Collection

• Continuous Monitoring: Conduct daily/weekly log reviews and monitor security alerts to identify, triage, and flag potential corporate security incidents for classification and escalation.

• Compliance Evidence: Actively document every system change and user access update, maintaining a continuous "evidence trail" as required to support Anvil’s ITSP and other required compliance related audits.

• Security Hygiene: Coordinate internal phishing simulations, manage employee security training enrollments, and help cultivate a "security-first" culture.

Hardware Logistics & Facilities Support

• Asset Lifecycle Management: Lead the procurement, inventory tracking, and secure shipping/receiving of all corporate laptops and peripherals for local and remote staff.

• Office Operations: Manage physical access systems (keycards/fobs) for the Carriageway office and coordinate with facilities vendors (HVAC, cleaning, maintenance) to keep the workspace mission-ready.

• Onboarding Execution: Set up physical workstations and conduct technical orientations for all new hires (projected at 10-15+ per month).
