JOB CODE: 0250 TITLE: SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGIST REPORTS TO: Director of Special Education JOB GOAL: To lead students toward the fulfillment of their potential for intellectual, emotional and psychological growth and maturation. REQUIREMENTS:

• Kentucky Rank I certification as a school psychologist

• At least three years work experience as a public school psychologist preferred

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, and RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Complete pupil evaluations using appropriate individual diagnostic procedures

• Prepare individual reports for pupils evaluated and participate in development of individualized education programs for eligible students

• Participate in conferences for pupil placement

• Counsel with pupils and parents

• Confer with teachers and other personnel concerning the progress and behavior of students being evaluated

• Summarize and update information on pupils evaluated

• Consult with parents and teachers to plan interventions which support student progress

• Any other duties deemed necessary by the Special Education Coordinator/Principal

• Abides by the Professional Code of Ethics for Kentucky Certified School Personnel.

• Adheres to the requirements of any District or school employee handbook, Owensboro Board of Education policies, and all applicable laws and regulations.

• Performs all other functions deemed necessary by the immediate supervisor that are reasonable and are covered by local board policy or law.

• Acts in accordance with the by-laws and policies as set forth by the Owensboro Board of Education, KRS and KAR, and applicable Federal laws and regulations.

• Demonstrates loyalty and dedication to the purposes and goals of the Owensboro Public Schools.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Indoor, environmentally controlled. Typical office environment including but not limited to telephones, personal interruptions, background noises. Will require working with or near the public, parents, and children and will be subject to sounds, scents, and other related environmental factors. This position will require dealing with conflict and requires use of sound judgment. Physical Demands: (example)

• Lifting-up 50 lbs.

• Sitting for long periods of time

• Hand and finger dexterity

• Repetitive movement

• Must be able to kneel, squat, and sit on the floor

• Must be able to bend at the waist, twist, turn, and

• Standing and walking intermittently throughout a typical work day

• Trained in and utilizing restraint and seclusion.

Travel Requirements: (Frequency and Duration)

• Less than 10% out of district

• Daily as needed within district boundaries

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of Certified Personnel. Evaluation will be conducted by the principal. OTHER FACTORS:

• Instructional salary schedule based on rank and experience

• FLSA: Exempt
