PC Assignment Code: 71004 Minimum Salary: $15.55

Insight: Support Duty Days: 187 days per school year

Primary Purpose: Assists teachers in the preparation and management of classroom activities and administrative requirements. Works under the supervision of a certified teacher. Qualifications: Education (must meet one of the following)

• High school diploma or equivalent with the ability to pass a rigorous content-oriented exam, or

• 48 semester hours of college credit, or

• Associate degree

Certification

• Current Texas educational aide certificate or ability to obtain

Experience

• Experience working with children

Knowledge and Skills

• Ability to work well with children

• Ability to communicate effectively

Key Responsibilities: Instructional Support

• Assist teachers in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays.

• Assist with administration and scoring of objective testing instruments or work assignments.

• Help maintain a neat and orderly classroom.

• Help with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.

• Help teachers keep administrative records and prepare required reports.

• Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.

Student Management

• Conduct instructional exercises the teacher assigns and work with individual students or small groups.

• Help supervise students throughout the school day, inside and outside the classroom. This includes lunchroom, bus, and playground duty.

• Keep the teacher informed of special needs or problems of individual students.

Additional Responsibilities:

• Adhere to all district policies, procedures, and expectations as outlined in the employee handbook and administrative regulations.

• Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.

• Participate in professional development, faculty/department meetings, and special events as assigned.

• Perform additional duties as assigned to support the mission and goals of the campus and district.
