POSITION: Teacher Assistant Encore Academy EXEMPT STATUS: Non-Exempt NUMBER OF DAYS: According to district approved calendar DEPARTMENT: Assigned Campus, Special Services REPORTS TO: Principal, Supervising Teacher, Special Services Supervisor SUPERVISES: None EDUCATION:
• High School Diploma or GED and/or 30 semester hours of an accredited college or university
• Educational Aide Certificate from state of Texas
EXPERIENCE:
• Some experience working with special education children
POSITION FUNCTION/PURPOSE To assist the classroom teacher in the care and instruction of the students in the classroom.
Essential functions 1. Follow the directions of the supervisor 2. Preparing materials and displays as directed 3. Demonstrating acceptable written and verbal skills 4. Working in a cooperative manner with both teacher and students 5. Assisting the teacher in maintaining student discipline 6. Assisting the teacher in assuming responsibility for the care and safety of students 7. Assisting the teacher in assuming responsibility for the care of equipment and teaching materials 8. All other duties assigned by supervisor
Qualification Requirements 1. Good people skills 2. Ability to work well with children and other adults 3. Collaborate with other staff in the school 4. Ability to work well with all students
