New Mexico International School is looking for a full time Middle Program Coordinator (MPC) Summary of position: The Middle School Program Coordinator (MPC) supports the implementation of NMIS's middle school instructional program through instructional coaching, coordination of assessment systems, facilitation of collaborative instructional structures, and execution of programmatic requirements aligned to the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (MYP). The MPC serves as the school's MYP Coordinator. The MPC also serves as the school's K–8 School Testing Coordinator, responsible for the day-to-day coordination of assessment administration, data collection, and testing logistics under the supervision of the Middle School Principal. The MPC also supports student leadership programming and middle school transition activities. This role is non-supervisory and does not include staff evaluation, student discipline, or administrative authority. The Middle School Program Coordinator reports to the Middle School Principal. Role Boundaries and Authority: The Middle School Program Coordinator is a licensed instructional staff member who provides programmatic coordination and instructional coaching support. The MPC does not supervise staff, conduct formal evaluations, implement student discipline, or serve as an acting administrator. Authority for instructional supervision, evaluation, discipline, and compliance decisions rests with school administration. The MPC exercises influence through coaching, collaboration, and coordination of instructional systems. The Middle Program Coordinator is obligated to respond to student misconduct in accordance with the NMIS Student Discipline Matrix. The Middle Program Coordinator is expected to intervene directly at the level of authority assigned to their role and to escalate concerns when student behavior exceeds that authority. The Middle Program Coordinator may implement Level 0 and Level 1 disciplinary responses, including immediate redirection, instructional correction, restorative actions, and classroom-based consequences, as defined in the Student Discipline Matrix. The Middle Program Coordinator does not determine or impose level 3 or above disciplinary actions. FLSA Status: Exempt (teacher) School Personnel Act Classification: Licensed Department and Overseeing Director: Middle School, Middle School Principal (MSP) Immediate supervisor: Middle School Principal (MSP) Compensation: Salaried, according to placement on NMIS Teacher Salary Schedule. See Appendix 1. Additional stipend available for possession of Bilingual Education endorsement. See Appendix 3. Additional off-schedule raises may apply. Hours: Must be present on campus during the teacher workday (8:00am–3:45pm, with 30-minute lunch). Required on-campus dates include all teacher workdays plus additional days before and after the school year as assigned, consistent with principal expectations. • Current trainings in accordance with NMIS Employee Handbook and Governing Council Policy
• Current background check in compliance with school policy
• Demonstrated knowledge of best practices in elementary instruction, bilingual education, and inquiry-based learning
• Valid New Mexico PED-issued K-8 Elementary License with Bilingual Education Endorsement
• Bilingual in English and Spanish
• Demonstrated expertise in middle grades instruction and adolescent development
• Experience with assessment coordination and instructional data systems preferred
• Demonstrated expertise in the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (MYP)
• Strong collaboration, facilitation, and instructional coaching skills

Job Duties Essential functions: The Middle Program Coordinator is responsible for the following, with or without reasonable accommodations.
• General Program Coordinator
• Abide by all NMIS policies, procedures, Employee Handbook provisions, and applicable sections of New Mexico Statute (NMSA) and Administrative Code (NMAC).
• Maintain strict confidentiality of student and staff information.
• Communicate professionally and collaboratively with staff, students, and families.
• Serve as a member of the middle school instructional support team.
• Carry out duties under the direction of the Middle School Principal.
• Instructional Coaching and Program Implementation
• Provide instructional coaching to middle school teachers to support high-quality MYP implementation.
• Model effective instructional strategies aligned to MYP and adolescent learning needs.
• Support teachers with unit planning, lesson design, and assessment alignment.
• Facilitate grade-level, subject-area, and collaborative planning structures as assigned.
• Support documentation and evidence collection for MYP implementation (not authorization).
• In collaboration with the Elementary Program Coordinator, serve as a co-facilitator and co-chair of the Pedagogical Leadership Team (PLT), responsible for planning agendas, facilitating meetings, maintaining documentation, and monitoring follow-through, under the oversight of the Middle School Principal.
• Coordinate the 8th grade MYP Community Project
• School Testing Program Coordination
• Serve as the school's designated K–8 School Testing Coordinator, responsible for coordinating assessment administration, scheduling, training, materials preparation, and testing security procedures under the supervision of the Middle School Principal. This excludes testing required under the school's BMEP.
• Coordinate testing calendars, staff training, and logistical preparations for state and local assessments.
• Coordinate data collection, entry, and reporting in collaboration with principals and the Special Services Director, as applicable.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for testing-related logistics, timelines, and technical procedures.
• MLSS Support (Layers 1 & 2)
• Support implementation of MLSS Layers 1 and 2 in collaboration with teachers and the Middle School Principal.
• Assist with data review, intervention planning, and progress monitoring processes.
• Support teachers in documenting instructional interventions and outcomes.
• Collaborate with the Special Services Director for escalation to MLSS Layer 3 when appropriate.
• Professional Learning Support
• Support the design and delivery of site-based professional learning aligned to middle school instructional priorities.
• Facilitate coaching cycles and peer collaboration focused on instructional improvement.
• Support implementation of schoolwide instructional initiatives at the classroom level.
• Assist in onboarding and supporting new middle school teachers.
• Family Communication and Program Support
• Support communication with families regarding bilingual and IB programming and instructional initiatives, as directed by the Middle School Principal.
• Provide program-level support and clarification to families as appropriate.
• Student Leadership and Activities Support
• Coordinate student council activities and student leadership programming for grades 5–8.
• Support planning and logistics for student activities, events, and assemblies as assigned.
• Coordinate and attend extended middle school field experiences, including domestic and international travel for grades 6–8, in collaboration with the Middle School Principal and designated staff.
• Collaborate with staff to support student engagement and leadership development.
• Middle School Transition Support
• Support implementation of 8th-grade transition activities and readiness programming.
• Assist with coordination and documentation of New Mexico “Next Step Plans.”
• Collaborate with counselors, families, and receiving high schools as assigned to support successful student transitions.
Additional functions: The Middle Program Coordinator is expected to do the following additional functions to adequately complete the duties of the position.
• Serve as co-chair of the Pedagogical Leadership Team (PLT) with the Elementary Program Coordinator.
• Provide input on school policy drafts and revisions as requested by the Head of School.
• Participate in professional development and leadership meetings as directed.
• Perform other reasonable duties as assigned by the Head of School.
