About this role
A vacancy exists within the Norristown Area School District for a Marching Band/Color Guard/Drumline Director. This position will lead the successful coordination of the NASD Marching Band, Guard, and Drumline. Qualifications:
• PA Certification in Music.
• Leadership experience with Marching Band and Color Guard at the competitive level.
• Bilingual prefered
Responsibilities:
• Establish and guide band/guard for growth and performance opportunities.
• Preparation: Plan and lead ensemble rehearsals, band camp, sectional, and performances. Teach proper instrumental and marching techniques, tone, and music expression.
• Visuals and Drill: Teaching movement fundamentals. Ensure the band correctly navigates field drill patterns and coordinates the visuals with the music.
• Show Design: Ensure successful design of the field show including music selection, drill writing, and choreography embracing diversity and the heart of the community.
• Event Planning: Coordinate Band Schedules for games, pep rallies, parades, and competitions (working closely with the Athletic Director).
• Asset Management: Oversee the inventory, repair, transportation of instruments, uniforms, props, and other equipment.
• Budgeting: Manage program funds, collect user fee, order music, and organize fundraising in coordination with with the NAHS Music boosters.
• Mentorship: Provide guidance to students, fostering teamwork, discipline, and performance skills while ensuring all students remain supervised during band activities.
• Student Leadership: Provide opportunities for students to lead, learn, and grow.
• Recruitment: Promote the program to younger grades, incoming students, and the community.
• Stakeholders: Maintain open, respectful communication with families, administrators, the athletic department, and community.
• Volunteers: Coordinate volunteers as needed.
Compensation: 200 points Calendar: Throughout the Year
