Start Date: 8/25/2025

Assist with circulation desk operations, customer service, and general library maintenance tasks. This position is ideal for students interested in gaining experience in a library setting with no prior experience required.

Responsibilities and Career Competencies:

• Provide high-quality customer service to meet patron's needs – C, P, TW, CTR

• Check in/out library materials – P, CSD, T

• Ensure the integrity, privacy, and confidentiality of patron records and transactions – P, CT

• Answer the phone and relay questions to appropriate staff when necessary – C, TW

• Assist library users with basic reference, resource, and technology questions – C, T, CT

• Help patrons locate items through familiarity with the library layout – C, P, TW

• Explain library policies such as reserves, printing, and computer use – C, P, CT

• Provide basic technology support including Canvas, email, and office software – T, C, CT

• Assist with copiers, printers, and library equipment – T, P

• Answer library-related and campus-wide directional/informational questions – C, TW, P

• Shelve and shift materials accurately – CSD, CT, P

• Clean shelves and maintain assigned areas – P, TW

• Conduct shelf reading for collection inventory – CT, P, CSD

• Perform additional tasks as assigned – TW, P, CSD

Preferred Skills: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, willingness to learn new technology such as 3D Printers, Cricut, Camcorders, etc., attention to detail, active listening, public speaking, written & verbal communication, customer-focused, willingness to learn.

Work Schedule: Day shift and Evening shift available. Hours can be flexible to accommodate the student’s class and extracurricular schedule.

Work Conditions: Dust/mold.

Physical Demands: Keyboarding, reaching/handling, stooping/kneeling, crouching/crawling, pushing/pulling up to 75 lbs., lifting/carrying up to 30 lbs., climbing, balancing.

Additional Notes: This role is for students interested in library environments. Training and meetings are required. Must adhere to library policies and be punctual, detail-oriented, and able to follow instructions.

Number of Positions: 15

Pay Rate: $8.75/hour
