Southern Supervisor – Invercargill
Are you an experienced, mechanically minded supervisor with a passion for renewable energy and keeping essential equipment running safely and reliably?
Pioneer Energy Renewables is looking for a Southern Supervisor to lead our Invercargill-based team and coordinate the operation and maintenance of our energy assets across the lower South Island.
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone with strong mechanical knowledge and practical maintenance experience. You will work alongside a small team of electrical technicians and a boiler operator, helping to maintain reliable operations across our boiler, wind and hydro assets.
You will bring strong people and organisational skills, sound technical judgement, a positive attitude and a genuine commitment to health and safety. Experience with boiler systems, wind generation or hydro operations would be an advantage.
The Role You will lead and support our Southern team, coordinating planned and preventative maintenance across multiple sites. You will take a practical approach to maintenance, fault-finding and repairs, while ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
You will also help keep work programmes on track, respond to faults and outages, support team development and ensure our sites meet all relevant safety, environmental and compliance requirements.
We are looking for someone who plans ahead, communicates well and is comfortable making sound decisions when priorities change. You will work across a range of sites and environments, giving you plenty of variety and the opportunity to build on your mechanical and technical experience.
Key responsibilities include:
• Lead and support the Southern team.
• Plan and coordinate maintenance across multiple sites.
• Provide practical mechanical support and guidance.
• Manage workloads, leave cover and the on-call roster.
• Respond to faults, breakdowns and outages.
• Support boiler, wind and hydro operations.
• Coordinate inspections, repairs and compliance work.
• Monitor equipment performance, spares and fuel supplies.
• Support team training and development.
• Lead Health, Safety and Wellbeing initiatives and compliance with HSW policies and practises.
• Identify and implement practical improvements to maintenance practices, including keeping TAG maintenance policies and work orders current and fit for purpose.
This is a full-time position of 40 hours per week, generally worked Monday to Friday between 7.00 am and 5.00 pm. You will also take part in an on-call roster and may need to respond to operational issues outside normal working hours.
Travel to other company-owned or operated sites will be required. The role is physically active and may involve climbing wind turbines, working around boiler equipment, accessing confined spaces and working on sites with difficult terrain.

To be successful in this role, you will ideally bring:
• Five to seven years’ relevant mechanical experience.
• A mechanical trade qualification or equivalent experience.
• Experience leading or supervising a small team.
• Strong maintenance and mechanical fault-finding skills.
• Experience with industrial equipment and systems.
• A strong commitment to health and safety.
• Good planning and problem-solving skills.
• The ability to interpret technical drawings and manuals.
• Clear communication and sound record-keeping skills.
• A good level of physical fitness.
• A current driver licence.
• Flexibility to travel and join the on-call roster.
Boiler Operator certification, experience with rotating equipment, wind generation training, hydro operations or maintenance project work would be an advantage.
