JOB TITLE: Electrical Maintenance Technician

Position Summary: Responsible for all electrical installations and maintenance, specify and purchase materials, supervise and train electricians, including contracted electricians as needed. The Electrical maintenance technician will test the performance of electrical, electronic, mechanical, or integrated systems or equipment. Maintains daily work records and prepares written reports as required, coordinates the preparation and purchase of materials, equipment and labor requirements for needed repairs and maintenance work; resolves technical problems encountered in the work; enforces safety rules and regulations; may provide onsite direction and oversight to subordinate employees as required to ensure that work is carried out according to plans, specifications, work orders and applicable codes in accordance with 25 CFR 170.
Duties & Responsibilities:
• Maintain and repair overhead & underground distribution lines, street lights, parking lot lights and building lights
• Install electrical or electronic parts, equipment, hardware, and instrumentation systems in housings or assemblies.
• Responds to accident sites involving damaged light poles and replaces light poles and lamps.
• Follow NFPA 70 or National Electrical codes when performing any electrical task.
• Reviews traffic systems designed by consultants for technical adequacy; makes periodic inspections of contractor's work to ensure signal installations are constructed according to plans and specifications.
• Perform scheduled maintenance on all motors, controllers, relays and keep all data updated.
• Travel to job sites in service area, and work with dispatch to ensure schedule is maintained and delays are properly communicated to customer.
• Be available to work nights or weekends, on an on-call basis, to service emergency needs of the Hualapai Tribe.
• Maintain good working order of tribal vehicle including refueling as necessary, reporting any mechanical issues, and maintain and submit daily vehicle inspection forms and mileage logs. Vehicles should be washed on a regular basis.
• Understand Public Services iWorQs work order procedure and generate appropriate cost of job utilizing iWorQs.
• Diagnose diverse service issues, obtain any replacement parts, calibrate system to manufacturer’s recommendations.
• Participate in provided training opportunities on latest industry technologies.
• Identify and report to supervisor potential system failures.
• Be able to push, pull, carry or maneuver heavier items (with additional manpower or appropriate devices); carry ladders; work from heights, work in small crawl spaces.
• Observe all tribal procedures and safety rules
• Individual must be a dependable problem solver
• All other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
• Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and be eligible for the tribe’s insurance.
• 10 years related training at a technical trade school; or any combination of experience and training which provides the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and ability required to perform the work.
• Must be able to pass drug test(s) as required by Tribe.
• Good analytical skills and attention to detail with ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans and manuals, desire to exceed expectations.
• Ability to work independently in a timely manner, making sure job is done correctly the first time.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
• Required to exert physical effort in handing and lifting 50 lbs. to 100 lbs. daily
• Will be exposed to potential occupational risks such as burns, cuts and exposure to hazardous fluids, and working alone in isolated areas.
• Exposure to physical environment which includes dust, noise, odors, extreme weather or other similar elements.
• Noise from mechanical tools and equipment.
