About this role

CHAP Group was founded in 1976 and is one of Scotland's leading privately owned construction groups. We are looking for a Contracts Manager to join us and lead delivery of contracts across our Construction division.

This is a role for someone who wants to build a career with us rather than simply fill a post. It offers real ownership of your own contracts, with a clear route towards Senior Contract Manger.

THE ROLE

Reporting to the Operations Manager/ Construction Director, you will take day-to-day ownership of one or more live construction contracts, managing your site teams and working closely with our commercial function to deliver each contract safely and successfully.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Managing the delivery of concurrent contracts, ensuring each is completed safely, on programme, to budget and to specification

• Leading and supporting site managers and site teams on your contracts

• Driving health, safety and environmental performance across your contracts

• Managing subcontractor and supply chain performance, procurement and cost control

• Ensuring quality assurance and compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements

• Building and protecting relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors and our supply chain

• Contributing to pre-construction and tender input when necessary

Essential

• Substantial experience as a Contracts Manager or senior site manager, typically seven years or more

• A track record of successfully delivering construction contracts safely, on time, to budget and to specification

• Sound knowledge of construction contracts, such as JCT or NEC, and commercial principles

• Strong working knowledge of CDM, health and safety legislation and quality assurance

• A confident communicator, able to manage site teams, subcontractors and client relationships effectively

• A practical, hands-on approach to resolving problems on site

• SMSTS and CSCS

• Full UK driving licence

Desirable

• HNC, HND or degree in construction management, civil engineering or a related discipline

• Professional membership, for example MCIOB

• Experience in relevant sectors, for example affordable housing, education or commercial

• Commercial awareness gained through budget or profit and loss responsibility

• First Aid certification
