About this role

Part-time (3 days per week) | Fixed-term for 3 months

Are you an experienced coordinator or executive support professional looking for a flexible part-time opportunity?

About Us

Aroturuki Tamariki | Independent Children’s Monitor provides oversight of the oranga tamariki system. We check that organisations supporting and working with tamariki (children) and rangatahi (young people) in the oranga tamariki system are meeting their needs, delivering services effectively, and improving outcomes. We do this by listening to the experiences of those in the system and analysing data, to provide insights that will drive continuous improvement for tamariki and rangatahi – particularly tamariki and rangatahi Māori and tamariki and rangatahi with disabilities.

We are seeking a highly organised and proactive Team Coordinator to provide support to our Executive Leadership Team for a three-month fixed-term period.

This is a varied role where you'll coordinate diaries, meetings, travel, governance activities, and day-to-day administrative support, helping our leaders stay organised and focused on delivering positive outcomes for tamariki, rangatahi and whānau.

About You

You may already be working in an administration or coordination role and looking to take the next step in your career by gaining experience supporting senior leaders.

Alternatively, you may be an experienced executive support professional seeking a rewarding part-time role that offers variety, flexibility, and the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution without the demands of a large, high-pressure executive office.

To be successful, you'll bring:

• Experience in administration, coordination, executive support, or a similar role

• Strong organisational and prioritisation skills

• Excellent attention to detail

• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills

• Confidence using Microsoft Office and business systems

• A collaborative approach, sound judgement, and initiative

• Public sector experience would be an advantage, but is not essential

Why Join Us?

You'll be joining a friendly, supportive, and well-connected Business Support team that values collaboration, professionalism, and continuous improvement. This is an opportunity to work closely with senior leaders, broaden your experience, and contribute to an organisation dedicated to improving outcomes for tamariki and rangatahi.

If you're looking for a flexible opportunity where you can build on your skills, contribute from day one, and work alongside a great team, we'd love to hear from you.

Our values are Kia Māia – to be Courageous; Kia Pono, Kia Tika – to be Trustworthy; Manaaki – to be Respectful; and Kia Huritao – to be Reflective. We are looking for people who share these values to join us.

Our kaimahi tell us this is a great place to work – and this is reflected in our ranking of third highest for job satisfaction in the 2025 public service census. Find out more about us on our website www.aroturuki.govt.nz

Applications close 19 August 2026, but please note we will review applications as we receive them and may start interviewing ahead of this date.
