About this role

The Chariho Regional School District is currently seeking applicants for a part-time Instructional Support Specialist for the 2026–2027 school year. Join a dynamic and award-winning team at the Chariho Alternative Learning Academy. This role focuses on supporting high-quality instruction through targeted ELA and math interventions, as well as collaborating with teachers to strengthen instructional practices. Earn $40 per hour and up to $39,600 this school year, working September through June. The position offers flexible hours up to 28 hours per week. Candidates must be available Monday through Friday (up to 28 hours per week), and the schedule will be determined in collaboration with the Director. A Bachelor’s degree (or currently working toward one) in education, literacy, mathematics, or a related field is preferred, along with experience working with students in grades K–12. Ideal candidates will have a strong interest in instructional practice, intervention strategies, and collaborative coaching to support both student learning and teacher development. Key Responsibilities Include: Providing targeted ELA and math intervention support to students in small group and individualized settings. Supporting the implementation of high-quality instructional materials (HQCM) and aligned instructional practices. Collaborating with teachers to plan, model, and refine instructional strategies, particularly in literacy and mathematics. Assisting in the use of data to identify student needs and monitor progress. Supporting differentiated instruction and scaffolding for students with diverse learning needs, including those with IEPs. Working collaboratively with administration, teachers, behavior management assistants, and clinical staff to ensure a cohesive support system. Assisting with classroom instruction and supervision, as needed. Supporting integration of academic and social-emotional learning to promote student success. Assisting with family communication related to student academic progress. Supporting college/career readiness efforts in coordination with staff (e.g., job coach, transition supports). Providing additional instructional and intervention support as needed. Ideal Candidate Will Demonstrate: Knowledge of or interest in ELA and math instructional strategies and interventions. Strong collaboration and communication skills. Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff. Flexibility and responsiveness in a dynamic, student-centered environment. Commitment to supporting diverse learners in an alternative school setting.
