The Keokuk Community School District is seeking an energetic, student-centered leader to serve as our Dean of Students. This position plays a vital role in fostering a safe, respectful, and positive school environment where every student can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. The ideal candidate is a relationship-builder who believes in supporting students through accountability, restorative practices, and meaningful connections with families and staff. Position Responsibilities
• Promote a positive school culture that encourages respect, responsibility, and student success.
• Build strong relationships with students, families, and staff to support a welcoming and inclusive learning environment.
• Oversee student attendance, behavior, and discipline while utilizing restorative practices whenever appropriate.
• Collaborate with administrators, counselors, teachers, and support staff to develop interventions that improve student outcomes.
• Monitor student attendance and implement strategies to reduce chronic absenteeism.
• Assist with student supervision before, during, and after the school day, as well as at school activities.
• Investigate student concerns and help resolve conflicts in a fair, consistent, and respectful manner.
• Support implementation of school safety procedures and crisis response plans.
• Maintain accurate documentation and communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student progress and concerns.
• Encourage student leadership, engagement, and participation in school activities.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
• Valid Iowa teaching license required.
• Iowa Administrator License (or ability to obtain) preferred.
• Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to build trusting relationships while maintaining high expectations for student behavior and achievement.
