About this role

Primary Purpose: To provide support and coordinated services to BASE classrooms, staff, and administrators. Assist in implementation of BASE programming, including social skills training, behavior management, and instructional programs. Education/Certification: Bachelor's degree in Education or related field Texas Teaching Certificate Special Education Certification Special Knowledge/Skills: Social Skills to work with administrative staff and campus teachers Effective Communication Skills Understanding of Special Education law and how it relates to the classroom and ARD process Experience: Three years of self-contained special education teaching experience preferred Major Responsibilities and Duties:

• Provide resources, professional development, and support to BASE personnel.

• Work with students in the BASE classroom to create and/or adjust BIPS, instruction, and accommodations as needed.

• Complete FBAs for the district as requested by the ARD committee

• Substitute in BASE classrooms as requested to provide classroom stability

• Respond to behavior incidents on campuses as requested

• Obtain and maintain CPI certification

• Follow all federal, state, and local Special Education guidelines.

• Other duties as assigned by Director of Special Education and/or campus administration.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None Working Conditions: Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Equipment Used: Computers, telephones, copier, scanner, assistive technology, Ipads, chrome books, Mental/Physical Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress. Regular travel to multiple campuses as assigned. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing, and pulling. Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom or adaptive equipment. May be required to control behavior through physical restraint.
