KANSAS CITY MISSOURI SCHOOL DISTRICT Job Description Job Title: Middle School Head Golf Coach Job Title Code: Salary Grade: $4000 per season Department: Athletic Department Reports To: Building Principal and Site-based Athletic Director PURPOSE OF JOB: Provide leadership for the school's entire athletic program through the ongoing development, implementation and improvement of the specific sport coached. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Supervise and coach participants and follow all KCPS and first tee policies.
• Has knowledge and keeps current on rules and regulations regarding assigned sport and in accordance with MSHSAA.
• Teach sportsmanship, cooperation, work ethic, personal responsibility, and competiveness to all student-athletes.
• Schedules and organizes daily practices with the idea of developing the athlete's greatest potential.
• Teaches athletes the fundamental skills, theory, and strategy of the sport.
• Teaches the athletes the value of good conduct, sportsmanship, and good citizenship.
• Provides supervision of athletes at all times and applies discipline in a firm productive manner.
• Assumes responsibility for care of equipment and facilities being used.
• Arranges for systematic and accountable measures for the issuance, return, and maintenance of equipment.
• Conduct team and self in an ethical manner during practices and contests, always exemplifying the highest standards of sportsmanship (LEADERSHIP AND SIDELINE SPORTSMANSHIP SHOULD BE OF THE HIGHEST QUALITY, SO AS TO MODEL TO THE PARTICIPANTS THE DESIRED TYPE OF BEHAVIOR).
• Maintain records of team and individual accomplishments and arrange for the issuance of letters and special awards.
• Work with the Principal to provide a solid program.
• Continue professional growth through clinics and professional publications.
• Attend New Hire Employee Orientation (if applicable) – 7hrs.
• Complete Mandatory Safe Schools Online Training (if applicable).
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Assistant coaches, volunteers, and students involved in assigned sport. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Knowledge of particular sport (philosophy & coaching)
• Must successfully complete the MSHSAA/NFHS Coaching Principles Course and Sports First Aid Courses.
• Any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the position.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Employed as a teacher in the school in which the candidate applies for a coaching position;
