General Job Function: To provide students, staff, and visitors with a safe, clean, sanitary, attractive, comfortable, and well-maintained learning environment by performing routine custodial services, supporting building operations, and assisting with facility readiness for daily school activities and district events. Education/Training/Experience:

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.

• Previous custodial or cleaning experience preferred.

• Experience working in a school or public facility is desirable.

Knowledge/Skills and Abilities: Qualifications:

• Must be physically capable of performing all essential job functions.

• Ability to operate custodial equipment and cleaning machinery safely.

• Ability to safely use cleaning chemicals and supplies.

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

• Ability to communicate effectively with staff, students, parents, and the public.

• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

• Demonstrate a positive attitude and strong work ethic.

Resources Used in Performing Job Include (but are not limited to): Standard custodial equipment including floor scrubbers, buffers, vacuums, carpet extractors, pressure washers, mops, hand tools, ladders, cleaning chemicals, and other equipment necessary to perform custodial duties. District vehicle may be used when assigned. Physical/Cognitive Requirements: Regularly required to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, lift, carry, push, pull, and reach overhead. Frequently required to operate custodial equipment and use hands to handle tools and cleaning equipment. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Ability to regularly lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds and heavier objects with assistance. Approximate percentages of activities: Standing: 35% Walking: 60% Sitting: 5% Environmental Conditions: Work is performed both indoors and outdoors with exposure to varying weather conditions, cleaning chemicals, dust, noise, and occasional biological hazards. Appropriate personal protective equipment shall be used as required. Essential Job Functions:

• Demonstrate dedication to job performance and complete assigned duties in a timely and professional manner.

• Accept direction and guidance from supervisory personnel.

• Adhere to assigned work schedule and maintain regular attendance.

• Keep buildings and school grounds clean, sanitary, orderly, and safe at all times.

• Sweep, vacuum, dust mop, wet mop, scrub, strip, wax, and burnish floors as assigned.

• Clean and disinfect classrooms, offices, restrooms, cafeterias, locker rooms, gyms, hallways, and common areas.

• Clean desks, tables, counters, doors, windows, walls, drinking fountains, and other surfaces.

• Empty trash and recycling receptacles and properly dispose of waste.

• Replenish restroom supplies, soap dispensers, paper towels, toilet tissue, and hand sanitizer.

• Clean interior and exterior windows, glass, and entrance doors as assigned.

• Clean classroom whiteboards, display surfaces, and other instructional areas.

• Maintain entrances, sidewalks, and walkways free of litter, debris, snow, and ice as necessary.

• Keep school grounds free of litter and perform light grounds cleanup as assigned.

• Open and secure school buildings as assigned, ensuring doors and windows are properly secured and unnecessary lights are turned off.

• Set up and remove tables, chairs, bleachers, stages, and equipment for meetings, athletic events, performances, and other district activities.

• Move furniture and equipment as required for classroom changes, maintenance projects, and special events.

• Inspect assigned areas daily and immediately report safety hazards, vandalism, damaged equipment, water leaks, or other maintenance concerns to the supervisor through established work order procedures.

• Maintain custodial closets, storage areas, and custodial equipment in a clean, organized, and safe condition.

• Review assigned work orders and complete custodial requests promptly.

• Monitor custodial supply inventory and notify the supervisor when supplies require replenishment.

• Follow OSHA regulations, district safety procedures, and manufacturer guidelines for the safe handling, storage, and disposal of cleaning chemicals and materials.

• Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and maintain compliance with Safety Data Sheet (SDS) requirements.

• Report accidents, injuries, unsafe conditions, and security concerns immediately to the supervisor.

• Assist with summer cleaning projects and preparation of facilities for the opening and closing of the school year.

• Participate in required district training and professional development.

• Perform other duties deemed necessary by the Principal, Manager/Director of Facilities, Assistant Manager of Facilities, or designee.

Personal Accountability:

• Demonstrates reliability as evidenced by attendance records and punctuality.

• Properly notifies the supervisor and/or designee of absences or tardiness.

• Begins and completes assigned work within established timelines.

• Consistently appears in attire appropriate for the work environment and assigned duties.

• Demonstrates safe and effective use of custodial equipment, tools, and cleaning products.

• Protects District resources through the appropriate use and care of facilities, equipment, and supplies.

• Utilizes proper body mechanics and safe work practices to prevent injury.

• Maintains professionalism, confidentiality, and positive working relationships with students, staff, parents, and the public.
