Position: Assistant Director - FC Musical (ECA) Schedule: August 31st-November 26th Summary: The Upper St. Clair School District is seeking a creative, organized, and enthusiastic Assistant Director to support our middle school musical production. This role works closely with the Musical Director to ensure the artistic vision comes to life while supporting student performers, crew members, and volunteers. The ideal candidate has experience in theatre production, strong leadership skills, and a passion for mentoring young performers. Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with the Musical Director to plan, schedule, and execute rehearsals.
• Assist with directing actors, staging, and character development.
• Support ensemble coordination and individual student needs.
• Help track rehearsal attendance, progress, and readiness for performances.
• Serve as a point of contact for students, parents, and volunteers regarding production updates.
• Assist with technical rehearsals, dress rehearsals, and performances during and after school.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to student performers, fostering confidence, teamwork, and discipline.
• Help maintain a safe, positive, and inclusive rehearsal and performance environment.
Qualifications:
• Experience in theatre direction, musical theatre, or performing arts education, a plus.
• Prior experience working with middle school or youth performers preferred.
• Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
• Ability to guide and motivate students of varying skill levels.
• Able to be present for all dates on the rehearsal and performance schedule.
• Able to attend the performance dates of November 19-23rd
